Victor Wembanyama creates new NBA history in his rookie season.

The 2023 first overall NBA draft pick, Victor Wembanyama has been one of the biggest performers in the league this season. Despite the San Antonio Spurs claiming only 21 wins this season, fans and critics have expressed great appraisal for Wembanyama having the best rookie year since Lebron James. In his debut season, the French center has etched his name in the NBA history as the first player to record over 1500 points, 250 blocks and 100 three point shots made in one season. This is without a doubt, one of the greatest rookie seasons in the NBA history.


Favour Ofili books a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics in her first Pro season.

LSU alumna and Nigerian track and field athlete, Favour Ofili was on fire during the Tom Jones Invitational, blazing out in the 200m Olympic development section. Clocking the 22.33 seconds mark, she defeated America’s Anavia Battle and Norway’s Ida Karsoft to create a new national record. Her 22.33s time record also dips under the Olympics 2024 entry standard (22.59) which means she has booked a place in the upcoming sport event in her first year of going professional. This is really big for the Port Harcourt born athlete.


The 3-way battle for first seed in the Western Conference intensifies.

In the Western Conference final standings is set to be decided on the last night of the regular season and for the first time in the NBA history, there is a three-way tie for the first seed with just one more regular season game remaining. Either of Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder will have a chance to claim the first seed in the conference, in the case where one of the three teams win. The Timberwolves face Phoenix Suns at the Footprint Center, while the Nuggets and Thunder face the Grizzlies and the Mavericks respectively. In the case where all teams win, Oklahoma City will claim the first seed, while the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets claim the second and third seeds respectively.


Kai Jones set to sign a multi-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

NBA star, Kai Jones is set to return to the league after being waived by his former team, the Charlotte Hornets after demanding a trade during the offseason. The Power Forward signed a 10-day contract with the Philadelphia Sixers but only got to play in the Sixers’ G-league affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats until the contract expired. According to new reports, Kai Jones will sign a multi-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers and will be eligible to play in the Playoffs where they face the Dallas Mavericks.


Erling Haaland on target as Manchester City obliterates Luton.

Manchester City claimed a temporary lead over Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League table after a big win over Luton on Saturday afternoon. Haaland was on the scoresheet, perfectly converting a 76th minute penalty to add the third in City’s 5-1 win and taking his tally to 20 in the league this season. With this goal, Haaland has now scored against every 22 premier league teams faced since joining the club. Liverpool and Arsenal will be hoping to overtake Manchester City again as they play Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively on Sunday afternoon.
