Nigerians above 40 years were advised to conduct medical checks regularly.

Experts in the field of healthcare are strongly suggesting that individuals in Nigeria who are above the age of 40 should make regular and yearly medical check-ups a top priority in order to ensure their overall health and wellness. This valuable advice was brought to light during a complimentary medical program that was arranged by The Redeemed Christian Church of God Radio at the Holy Ghost Congress, which took place in Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

Dr. Abel Owah, an optometrist, stressed the significance of proactive healthcare steps, pointing out that taking preventive measures is crucial. In his view, it is essential for individuals over the age of 40 to undergo a comprehensive annual health assessment and to prioritize their overall well-being. Furthermore, Dr. Owah called upon the government to allocate resources towards improving and bolstering the effectiveness of the nation’s primary healthcare system. He claims that the enhancement of primary health centers in Nigeria would tackle 70 percent of the health issues.

Lives can be saved by funding health centers and services.

Owah emphasized the importance of primary healthcare, emphasizing that it is the foundation of care that is easily accessible to the general population. By enhancing and allocating sufficient resources to primary health services, numerous lives can be saved. Furthermore, he urged The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to contemplate providing financial assistance for medication expenses, particularly for ailments such as diabetes and hypertension, to benefit their members.

During the event, Oluwadamilola Omola, the organizer of the health outreach and presenter of the RCCG Radio Programme, shared an astonishing fact that more than 500 attendees were provided with medical care. Omola stressed the significance of Christians acknowledging the worth of their well-being, explaining that often they focus solely on their faith in God and overlook their own health. To truly value your life, it becomes crucial to make your own health a topmost priority. The comprehensive health assessments consisted of evaluating vision, dental health, monitoring blood sugar levels, and measuring blood pressure.

Christians are encouraged to take proactive steps.

Encouraging Christians to adopt a proactive stance towards their health, Omola emphasized the importance of not waiting until illness strikes. The goal of this initiative was twofold: to provide essential healthcare services to the community and underscore the interconnectedness of physical well-being with the pursuit of spiritual aspirations. Omola urged believers to prioritize preventive measures, recognizing that a proactive approach contributes not only to physical health but also enhances the capacity to pursue spiritual goals with vigor and vitality.

To prioritize both physical health and faith, Christians in Nigeria can adopt holistic lifestyle practices that integrate well-being into their religious beliefs. Engaging in regular physical activities, such as exercise routines or recreational sports, not only promotes cardiovascular health but also aligns with the Christian principle of stewardship of the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Additionally, incorporating nutritious, well-balanced diets reflects a commitment to honouring God’s gift of health while maintaining the energy and vitality needed for spiritual devotion.

These routine checks can be considered even biblical.

Furthermore, seeking preventive healthcare measures, including annual check-ups and vaccinations, underscores the biblical concept of responsibility for one’s health. Christians can integrate prayer and mindfulness into their daily routines, fostering mental and emotional well-being. Establishing a supportive community within the church that encourages open discussions about health, sharing resources, and organizing wellness initiatives can create a collective commitment to both faith and health among Nigerian Christians. By merging these principles, individuals can embody a comprehensive approach to health that aligns with Christian values and contributes to a fulfilling spiritual and physical life.
