Jose Mourinho parts ways with AS Roma with immediate effect.

Serie A giant, AS Roma have sacked Jose Mourinho with immediate effect. The club presently sits ninth in the league table, twenty-two points behind league leaders, Inter Milan. This comes after Roma’s 3-1 loss to AC Milan on Sunday, with the club winning just one of their last six games. Mourinho has been suspended for eight of the league’s twenty games this season and had to watch Sunday’s loss from the stands. Despite winning the club’s first European trophy in 2022 and taking them to the Europa League finals last season, the club owners believe that an immediate change would be most effective for the club.


Mikel Obi believes Messi’s FIFA The Best win is a deserved honor.

On Monday, Lionel Messi clinched his eighth FIFA Best Player Award over Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. This caused major uproar on social media as football fans believed Haaland was more deserving for leading Manchester City. Chelsea legend, Mikel Obi however has a contrary opinion. Asked if Messi was the right candidate to win the award, Mikel noted that Messi was in fact deserving for winning the World Cup. He has since received backlash on social media, as the FIFA criterion evidently considered the post World Cup period.


Gift Orban completes medicals ahead of big move to Olympique Lyonnais.

Nigerian striker, Gift Orban has enjoyed global spotlight for his consistent performances with Belgium side, Gent. Scoring 12 goals in 30 appearances last season, he is now set to make a big move to Ligue 1 club, Olympique Lyonnais. Having completed his medicals, he is expected to move for a €13 million transfer fee in a four year deal. This is without a doubt, the big move that Orban deserves to further showcase his talent.


Brentford’s Yoane Wissa scores as DR Congo denies Zambia of three points.

The draw fest at the 2023 African Cup of Nations is underway again, as Democratic Republic (DR) of Congo held Zambia to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday evening. In one of the most exciting games of the tournament, Zambia’s Kings Kangwa opened the scoring with a long distance effort in the 23rd minute whilst keeper, Mpasi tried to intercept a long ball outside his area. It however took only four minutes for DR Congo to find an equalizer from Brentford’s striker, Yoane Wissa who tapped in Bakambu’s pass.


Tournament’s favorite, Morocco dominates in 3-0 win over Tanzania.

After a good run at the 2022 World Cup, Morocco has commenced the 2023 AFCON tournament with a huge 3-0 win over Tanzania. Goals from Romain Saiss, Azzedine Ounahi and Youssef En-Nesyri were enough to dismantle 10-man Tanzania, joining Senegal as the two teams with the biggest goal and win margin in the tournament. Morocco are currently the biggest favorite to win the competition and with this head start, they will be looking to build on this win as they face DR Congo on Sunday.
