Liverpool and Bayern keen on Xabi Alonso appointment as new head coach.

Emerging reports have indicated that Bayern Munich and Liverpool are interested in appointing Xabi Alonso. Jürgen Klopp revealed his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and Bayern Munich are also looking to replace Thomas Tuchel after agreeing to part ways with the German after this season. Alonso, who played for both Liverpool and Bayern Munich during his career, is doing a phenomenal job at Bayer Leverkusen this season, leading them to a 32 game unbeaten run and is on course to win the Bundesliga. There is no formal clause in his contract and Leverkusen will allow him leave, should he decide to try a new challenge.


The NBA updates its requirements for hosting the NBA All-Star Games.

After the 2024 All-Star weekend at Indianapolis, the NBA has decided to update the requirements for hosting the coveted All-Star weekend. According to the NBA spokesman, cities willing to host the All-Star games must meet these criteria;  1.A minimum of 7,250 three to five star hotels,  2.A convention centre with 650,000 square feet of exhibition space and 3.75 non-stop domestic flights and at least 20 international flights.  This has however not gone down well with many NBA fans, as these criteria reduces the eligibility of many small NBA markets to host the games.


Luke Shaw to miss a few months after sustaining muscular injury.

Manchester United have suffered another huge blow with full back, Luke Shaw set to be out for a couple of months after suffering a muscular injury in United’s 2-1 win against Luton. Shaw had to be taken off at half time, leaving ten Hag with worries about filling the left back role ahead of the next premier league clash against Fulham. Backup left back, Tyrell Malacia has been out since United’s US preseason tour and Sergio Reguilón, who was signed on loan, returned back to Tottenham and has now been loaned out to Brentford. Diogo Dalot, who has filled the left-back position multiple times will have to continue at right back, with Wan-Bissaka still out injured.


Sir Jim Ratcliffe says new decision will be made on Greenwood’s return.

Mason Greenwood was suspended indefinitely after being sued for alleged sexual and physical assault against his girlfriend in 2020. After three years, United decided to loan him to Spanish side, Getafe, where he has come up big with 12 goals and assists. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, after completing his 25% ownership of Manchester United, has just disclosed that a new decision will be made in regards to Greenwood’s situation. He said, “You are dealing with young people who have not always been brought up in the best circumstances, who have a lot of money and don’t always have the guidance they should have.” Fans will be looking to see where the club stands with Mason after his loan deal with Getafe expires in June.


Nigeria’s D’Tigers forfeit AfroBasket qualifiers due to lack of funds.

Nigeria’s men basketball team, D’Tigers have just pulled out of the upcoming AfroBasket qualifiers tournament. According to reports, the players did not receive their flight tickets to Tunisia, where the tournament is scheduled to hold and the team, via its X (Twitter) account, revealed that despite many 2020 Olympian’s commuting to the tournament, they have decided to pull out of the event as a result of low funding. This is a huge blow for the team who had a lot of points to prove after last year’s struggles.
