FG to commence national AI framework plan

120 researchers, start-ups, and stakeholders in the AI field will collaborate.

The Nigerian government has announced its intention to bring together 120 researchers, start-ups, and stakeholders in Artificial Intelligence to develop a unified plan for implementing AI across the country. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, revealed this plan in a statement shared on his X account. The Minister announced that a group of AI experts and upcoming companies will be developing a framework during the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy workshop scheduled to take place from April 15 to 18, 2024, in Abuja.

Luminate, a leading international company committed to promoting cross-border transformation, is backing the workshop. This backing will empower the attendees to collaborate on developing a thorough plan that fits with Nigeria’s goals and methodology for utilising AI to enhance well-being as well as stimulate economic development. Tijani emphasised that the outcome of this initiative will aid in advancing the goals and approach for enhancing the quality of livelihood and boosting Nigeria’s economy through AI utilisation.
