Road safety and utilisation of safety kits are achieved by collective actions.

In a bid to ensure absolute adherence to safety measures regarding the incorporation and utilisation of safety kits by drivers, the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, recently revealed a forward-thinking scheme in the form of a fresh vehicle safety policy. This initiative, presented by the Federal Government, was disclosed during an enlightening event held in the capital city of Abuja, where road safety awareness and the utilisation of car safety kits were the focal points of discussion.

However, in a united initiative to promote road safety in Nigeria, the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) joined forces with West Africa Automobile Services Limited, an Egyptian registered company, to orchestrate a remarkable event. This event highlighted the significance of collective action in ensuring enhanced road safety measures. At the program’s session, the minister stressed the pivotal role played by drivers’ adherence to basic road etiquette, emphasising its capability to significantly safeguard countless lives.

Use of safety kits guarantees the success of the initiative.

According to him, their commitment to promptly implement a policy that supports the use of safety kits guarantees the success of the initiative. He also emphasised that countless lives could have been preserved if safety kits had been available. On the other hand, Musa Ibrahim, the Director of Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration, who represented Alkali, expressed his appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s efforts, recognising his significant contributions to attracting foreign investments to Nigeria. Examples of such investments include the participation of entities like West Africa Automobile Services, which have played a pivotal role in the country’s development.

President Musa Maitakobi of RTEAN explained the significance of equipping vehicles with comprehensive safety gear and promoting responsible driving habits. He further highlighted the urgent need for these measures. Maitakobi’s stance on this matter was reiterated by his Deputy, Muhammad Bushara, who represented him, as they recognised the potential for positive change through strategic collaborations with enterprises, individuals, and community groups. Their primary objective is to enhance public consciousness regarding the vital inclusion of safety kits in all automobiles.

Collective dedication ensures road security for every organisation.

Similarly, he stated that the association’s primary goal was to inspire car owners and drivers to equip their vehicles with thorough safety kits. Furthermore, he emphasised the significance of educating individuals on the vital elements that form a well-equipped safety kit. They also aimed to foster safe driving practices and responsible ownership by prioritising preventive measures. Comparably, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero highlighted the joint duty of all parties involved in preventing roadway incidents. This highlights a crucial element of the safety campaign, which is an appeal for collective dedication from every pertinent organisation to ensure road security.

Ahmed Hafez, CEO of West Africa Automobile Services, underscores the pivotal need for unified support from government entities to ensure the accessibility and optimal use of safety kits. Furthermore, Hafez mentioned the essential role of enforcement in transforming safety from an abstract concept to a tangible reality. Prioritising prevention over reaction, this approach accentuates and prioritises safety practices, fostering a proactive stance towards safety measures in the automotive sector. Collective backing is crucial to establishing a comprehensive safety framework that safeguards both industry professionals and the public.
