Covenant University has emerged as the best Private University for Year 2022.

The Nigeria Prestige Education Awards showed Covenant University to be the best private university in Nigeria out of 111.  The Best Private University of the Year 2022 was announced during a red-carpet ceremony over the weekend to recognize excellent Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary institutions around Nigeria. Covenant University won the title. The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor David Imhonopi, as well as important staff members and student council executives, provided strong representation for the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Adebayo.

It is acceptable to declare that none of the honours should go to the University’s faculty, staff, or students, but rather should go to God, the Dean said in a statement during the ceremony. The Chairman of Covenant University’s Students’ Council, Mr. Victor Egbadon, gave the awards acceptance speech at the ceremony. He credited the University’s competitive advantage to the inventive minds of the Staff and Students inside. Mr. Egbadon drew reference to the Schools Town and Gown Seminars, where students get the chance to communicate with business leaders and gain practical knowledge.

A prestigious award could only be issued to the most outstanding school.

Mr. M.A. Obiola, the event’s organizer, stressed in his opening remarks that only the best institutions could receive the distinguished honour and recognition that he was referring to. According to him, the occasion is intended to honour heroes in education and changemakers. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo gave all the honour for the outstanding achievement to God while accepting the award for the team. No man could receive anything from the Lord, he said, unless it was given to him.

He was grateful to the Board of Regents, headed by Dr. David O. Oyedepo, the Chancellor, for providing a supportive environment that fosters an excellent learning environment. He emphasized that Covenant University was founded by God, was financially supported by God, and was overseen by God in equal measure. All glory belongs to Him alone! The University has accumulated a number of awards throughout the years thanks to God’s guidance and divine mandate. This award has now been added to that list.
