Nigeria's prisoner rehabilitation objectives pave the way for future success.

Goods made locally in Lagos State by inmates are being promoted by the Nigerian Correctional Service, these initiatives created within the local prison system, will boost income and provide training and employment opportunities. The program helps to create a sustainable economy for the inmates and their families, as well as local businesses.

These initiatives are part of the overall goal of the Nigerian Correctional Service to rehabilitate inmates and prepare them for re-entry into society. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Mr. Haliru Nababa, supports the objectives of this program with goals to ensure that inmates are gainfully employed, and that their families are taken care of.

Less likely to commit crimes once they are released.

The use of goods manufactured in prison can help to promote the education and rehabilitation of inmates. This is because these goods can provide inmates with life skills that will be useful once they are released. Some of these skills include Masonry, Tailoring, Agriculture, and Carpentry. In addition to teaching inmates useful skills, the use of these goods can also help to reduce the amount of crime that is committed. This is because inmates who have been given the opportunity to learn a trade are less likely to commit crimes once they are released.

After the official signing of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act of 2019, the name was Officially changed by President Muhammadu Buhari. Significant increase in education and training offered to inmates.

Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), formerly known as Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) is a government organization that is responsible for creating policies and making recommendations for the improvement of the correctional system. One of the main goals of the NCoS is to prevent individuals from entering the correctional system in the first place. Toward this end, the commission has advocated for the use of parole, probation, and restorative justice programs as alternatives to incarceration. These measures are seen as more effective and humane than putting people in jail or prison, and they also save taxpayers money.

The Nigerian prison system has come a long way in recent years. Not only has it seen a massive expansion in terms of the number of prisons and inmates, but it has also seen a significant increase in the level of education and training offered to inmates. In fact, the prison system now has over 800 inmates undergoing undergraduate studies, some are studying for Masters Degrees.

Prison system not limited to providing education and training.

This is a major step forward for the prison system, and it will go a long way towards improving the overall quality of life for inmates. It is also important to note that the prison system is not just limited to providing education and training. It also offers a wide range of other services, including healthcare.
