Aryna Sabalenka defeats Gauff, advances to Australian Open finals.

Defending Champion, Aryna Sabalenka came out victorious in huge clash against Coco Gauff, beating the American 7-6, 7-2, 6-4 in the 2024 Australian Open Semi finals, gaining a much deserved revenge on Gauff who defeated her in last year’s US Open finals. Sabalenka becomes the first woman to reach back-to-back finals in the Australian Open since Serena Williams (2016, 2017) and might be the first woman to win the title back-to-back since Victoria Azarenka, who won it in 2013 and 2014. Sabalenka will take on Chinese player, Qinwen Zheng who defeated Dayana Yastremska 6-4 6-4.

Xavi Hernández reveals potential reason for leaving Barcelona after this season.

Barcelona boss, Xavi has received heavy criticisms for the club’s poor run of form this season. After a shocking 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the first leg of the Carabao cup semi-final, Chelsea cruised through a 6-1 win at the Stamford Bridge to secure a final spot in the 2024 Carabao Cup final. Goals from Palmer, Madueke, Axel Disasi, Enzo Fernández and an own goal from Middlesbroughs midfielder, Jonny Howson were enough to send Pochettino’s men to Wembley. Liverpool on the other hand, defeated Fulham 3-2 on aggregate to secure their place in the finals which will be held on February 25th.

Nemanja Matić set to join Ligue 1 giant, Olympique Lyon from Rennes.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matić signed for Rennes from Roma for €2 million in the summer. However, his future at the club became increasingly uncertain after difficulties with the club’s board as regards the failed promise of an international school for his children. New sources have now confirmed that the Serbian is close to joining Lyon and will sign a two and the half year contract for an estimated €3 million transfer fee.
