Partnership with the private sector is a catalyst for economic prosperity.

President Bola Tinubu has beseeched legal practitioners in the country to recommit themselves to the provision of services that will contribute to the constructive development of the country. The President, who inaugurated the 2023 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Abuja, emphasized the imperative of initiating this renewed dedication through a paradigm shift in thinking and unwavering dedication to the advancement of our nation. As per his assertion, the theme of the conference, ‘Getting It Right, Charting The Course Of Nigeria’s Nation Building’, is inherently fitting and highly pertinent to the nation current situation.

According to him, his administration will engage in a fruitful partnership with the private sector, recognising their pivotal role as catalysts for both economic advancement and prosperity. Establishing such collaborative effort would guarantee that Nigerians reap the benefits of democracy. The president lamented that most Nigerians lack access to reliable energy supplies, which would enable running the industry and lift millions of people out of poverty. He declared that the government will no longer utilize its revenue to pay off foreign debts, saying that it will only lead to ruin. It is not sustainable, he added.

Legal intellectuals at the conference signified their collective efforts.

This is due to the fact that for Nigeria to progress and improve, the country must undertake some very challenging changes. President Tinubu appreciated the NBA for honoring him to open the conference and expressed optimism for Nigeria future with regard to the high-caliber individuals he had appointed to cabinet ministers, including the Attorney General of the Federation. He went on to extend his gratitude to the NBA for steadfastly defending his triumph in the election, assuring to fulfill his duties to the utmost of his capacity.

The President explained that his fundamental requirement from the minister was “a change of attitude and a change of approach to governance.” According to his statement, the presence of more than 16,000 legal intellectuals at the conference signifies their collective efforts to delineate the path towards eminence. In his earlier address, the AGF, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, stated that it is imperative for legal practitioners in the country to assume prominent positions in order to actively contribute to the ongoing endeavour of nation building under the leadership of President Tinubu.

Every one must engage in a collective effort to transform Nigeria.

Similarly, in his remarks, the Guest Speaker at the occasion, Mr. Tony Elumelu, asserts that Nigeria must be unrelenting in assuming a pioneering role for other African nations to emulate, given the country abundant human and material resources. He expressed the significance of unifying and empowering the private sector, philanthropist, civil society, and the entire citizenry as genuine, esteemed, and proactive collaborators in the pursuit of national rejuvenation. It is incumbent upon each and every one of us to engage in a collective effort to foster harmonious collaboration, with the ultimate aim of effecting a transformative reset in Nigeria, he added.

Elumelu encouraged everyone to adopt a resolute and unwavering stance towards the nation-building task, underpinned by the tenets of unity, inclusivity, and progress. Furthermore, he encouraged the notion of fostering the nation-building task to be characterized by resolute resolve, compassion, and the dedication to establish a legacy of prosperity, unity, and optimism for future generations. In his statement, he said “Let it be inscribed in history that our legacy will not be defined by our personal triumphs, but rather by our joint effort in creating a nation that serves as a luminous symbol of optimism and motivation for the black populace.”

NBA president believed in President Tinubu outstanding work.

Speaking earlier, the NBA President Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, expressed his confidence that President Tinubu would recreate the outstanding work he accomplished as the governor of Lagos State. The NBA leader said he believes President Tinubu would not just recreate his achievements in Lagos but also improve upon it for Nigeria. Among the dignitaries in attendance at the event were; President Tinubu Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, as well as past Presidents of the NBA.
