Nigeria’s Ecological wellbeing requires reduction of negative human activities.

Pursuing the healthiness of the environment is essential to the health of humans. Its healthiness is crucial to achievement of sustainable development, which is necessary for balancing social, economic and environmental factors to tackle present needs, while ensuring preservation of its capability to meet the needs of future generations. Attainment of ecological wellbeing involves reduction of pollution, preservation of natural resources, endorsement of sustainable agriculture and forestry, and allocation of funds to provide clean energy innovations.

Achievement of environment prosperity means making sustainable practices that ensure longevity of the planet’s health a priority. Implementation of policies and practices that ensure reduction of negative human activities like improvement of waste management, protection of biodiversity, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and conservation of natural resources must be ensured. Securing economic growth through environmental protection has been a challenge for Nigeria as there are limited ways of achieving this. Even so, it is necessary for improvement of humans’ standard of living.

Environmental prosperity should be included in Nigerian development strategy.

Resultantly, facilitation of sustainable economic practices is crucial to minimizing negativity in the environment. There should be investment in renewable energy and usage of eco-friendly materials. Amidst the usage of the sufficient natural and human resources in the country, effective measures must be enforced to ensure they are not used at the detriment of the nation’s present and future generations. Environmental prosperity should encompass the development strategy of Nigeria as it is blessed with natural resources, both on land and water.

Installation of rules and guidelines that promote eco-friendly activities should be done by governments at all levels. This should be done amidst creation of awareness concerning the importance of sustainability. Conservation of natural ecosystems should include protection of endangered species and habitats and rehabilitation of damaged ecosystems. Likewise, protection of biodiversity entails ensuring sustainable functioning of natural entities. To foster sustainable growth and development in Nigeria, it is necessary that the integrity of ecosystems are upheld.

Initiation of empowerment programmes is important.

Oil exploration in the Niger Delta region of the country has also contributed to deterioration of the environment and humans’ health. This is majorly caused as a result of lack of regard for foreign regulations and best practices by stakeholders in the oil sector. Therefore, it is sacrosanct that the government devices measures to safeguard the environment and the means of livelihood of the local population as a reassurance that every region in the country is awarded equal attention, for facilitation of peace and national unity.

Also, the federal government of Nigeria, aware of the illicit acts of unemployed citizens on the guise of earning a living, should increase empowerment of young citizens to help them establish their own businesses. There should be initiation of programmes that provide entrepreneurial trainings and access to credit facilities. These acts will promote economic growth and encourage reduction of the risks associated with illicit activities. Empowerment programmes in all regions of the country will greatly foster eradication of illegal activities and improvement of sustainable economic growth.

Afforestation policies should be enforced across regions.

Over the last six decades, the abundant vegetation in many regions of the country has significantly diminished. Illegitimate exploitation of resources has immensely deprived the land of mangrove swamps, freshwater rainforests and others. Illegal logging, illegal sand dredging, careless waste disposal, bush burning, and blast fishing continually fuel destruction of the natural environment. Timber traders cut down trees in a daily basis with thoughts of replanting. Sand dredgers also engage in extensive mining without properly assessing its impacts on the environment. Stronger resolve and mechanisms should be put in place to enforce policies on afforestation.
