Adeyemi sold the school property & left the country with students’ WAEC, NECO.

The owner of The Lord’s Favour Secondary School in Ibadan has been accused of deceiving and leaving behind hundreds of students after taking their Exam fees. According to reports, the proprietor sold the school property and left the country in a bold move of betrayal. For more than twenty years, Sunday Adeyemi ran a Private School where he accepted fees from students to register them for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) exams.

Unfortunately, he did not actually register the students as promised but kept the money for his own benefit. Adejoke Lasisi, the founder of the Education non profit Planet 3R, revealed that numerous parents made significant sacrifices to ensure their children could sit for the WAEC and NECO exams, including borrowing money. She expressed deep disappointment in Mr. Adeyemi for betraying the trust of these families. Lasisi decided to use Facebook as a platform to shed light on the scandal.

It was a betrayal to all those who trusted him with their education.

Her sympathy was drawn from personal experience as her younger brother had been a victim of a similar scheme in the past. Adeyemi disappeared and it was shocking to find the school completely empty when students and parents arrived for the exams. Not only had the proprietor disappeared, but he had also sold both the school property and his own home in order to flee the country. It was a betrayal to all those who trusted him with their education.

Mr. Adeyemi managed to escape, but it seems that he cleverly liquidated all his possessions in order to Finance his move overseas, stated a representative for the Oyo State Ministry of Education. Abandoning these students in uncertainty demonstrates a total disregard for their upcoming opportunities. The idea of not being able to participate in the WAEC and NECO exams is heart-breaking for 17-year-old Azeezat Bello. She cried as she spoke about her parents’ hard work to pay for her fees, only to be betrayed. The loss of the qualifications leaves her unsure of how she’ll be able to continue with university.

Officials are striving to allow students enrol in rescheduled exam dates.

Critics argue that the scandal highlights major issues with oversight and responsibility, particularly within the private school sector of Nigeria. Nigeria must establish stronger standards for quality and implement severe consequences for business owners involved in this type of reckless exam Fraud, Professor Ben Akindele from the University of Lagos stated. In the midst of the repercussions, officials are striving to allow the impacted students to enrol in the rescheduled exam dates. However, additional expenses are on the horizon for numerous families who are already facing financial strain.

This suffering and difficulties was caused by Mr. Adeyemi. Lasisi grimly stated that Adeyemi’s greed has caused unforgivable harm, shattering the educational aspirations of numerous innocent children. A private school operates independently of government control and financial support, in contrast to a public school. Independent schools, also referred to as private schools, are educational institutions that do not rely on government funding for financial support. In most cases, they are governed by a board of governors and follow a system of administration that guarantees their autonomy.

Private schools have the autonomy to choose which students they admit and are financially supported by tuition fees paid by students, as opposed to receiving government funding through taxes. Some private schools offer scholarships to students based on their skills or talents, reducing the cost of tuition for those who qualify. Different types of scholarships (such as athletic, artistic, and academic scholarships), financial aid requirements, or potential Tax credit scholarships are offered to students in private schools.
