Many relief packs will be given to Lagos people to alleviate their suffering.

To alleviate the hardships of the people of Lagos, the Lagos state government will begin distributing food packs and offering reduced fares on public transit in the state through various agencies. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced at the LAWNA Territorial Headquarters in Ketu, Lagos, during the Inter-Denomination Divine Service (IDDS) 2023 of the Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN), at which all the Christian blocs in Lagos gathered to pray for the state and the nation under the theme “Peace be Still – Mark 4 vs 39.” He added that every vulnerable member of society will receive a reasonable food pack, packaged in a carton of different sizes, in an effort to lessen their suffering and restore faith that things will return to normal before the storm passes.

With his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and other officials of the Lagos State Executive Council in attendance, the governor appeared as the event’s Special Guest of Honor and pledged that his administration would continue to fight for the disadvantaged and the poor. He also announced that the Cowry card discount of half price on all public transportation, including buses, boats, and Lagride, among others, would be extended far beyond its initial one-week duration. He stated that his administration was consulting with the healthcare sector to determine the most effective way for the state to help the people of Lagos.

A promise of continuous good governance is made if re-elected.

As governor, he remarked that he could not act like he was unaware of the difficulties faced by his constituents. He assured them that he had come with a great heart to speak what he shared with them and that they would return to Abuja until justice was served. He continued, saying they won’t rest until they’ve done what’s right and liberated the people from poverty. They’ll make sure the solidarity that keeps the country together remains unshaken and pray to God that no one who wants to destroy the country is successful.

Furthermore, he urged the people to choose the right option by re-electing him in the upcoming 2023 elections based on his administration’s accomplishments over the previous three and a half years to ensure the continuation of good governance in the state. To the best of their ability, he said their government would keep working toward greater equality and justice for its citizens. They will keep working toward their original vision of an economy that provides equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds, regardless of factors like ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status. He said that all they want is the mandate to keep doing good in Lagos State and to take that to the federal level to improve the country.

The state and the country can be transformed with sincere prayer.

Local religious leaders were also urged to pray nonstop for the state’s and country’s prosperity and development. Nothing is impossible to those who believe, and nothing can stand in the way of sincere prayer. Therefore, he does not doubt that the coming together of the Christian believers in this interdenominational divine event to step in place for the state and country will undoubtedly bring about peace, divine intervention, and reformation people so desperately sought, he stated.

Moreover, Rt. Rev. S.T.V. Adegbite, chairman of the Lagos State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), affirmed Christian backing for Governor Sanwo-Olu as well as his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, saying their willingness to pray and back them is founded on their pragmatic, unobtrusive, candid, and sympathetic styles of leadership. Moreover, he urged all residents of Lagos to get their Permanent Voter Cards in order and cast their ballots on election day for candidates with credible qualities, as evidenced by their demonstrated ability to get things done and advance the city’s infrastructure. The Lagos CAN Chairman also called on his people to do their part in maintaining Nigeria as a unified country, stressing that justice and peace shall prevail, which will put an end to insecurity and killing.

Sanwo-Olu urges the people to vote for the APC presidential candidate.

On the other hand, the governor urged people to support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming February 25 presidential election, calling him the best candidate among the contestants based on his record as governor of Lagos State for 2 terms comprising eight years. He asserted that everyone would agree that the most crucial factors to be taken into account when choosing the next leaders are capacity, competency, proven record, honesty, and the fear of God, considering the challenges that awaited and the pressing need to move the nation quickly on the path of development.
