England striker, Ollie Watkins was the star of the show in Premier League’s record breaking Saturday which was 26 goals across five games. Aston Villa proved too hot for Sheffield United, defeating them 5-0 at the Bramall Lane and it was Watkins who contributed to three of the five goals scored, scoring one and assisting two goals. Watkins now brings his PL tally to 11 goals and 12 assists, becoming the first player with double figure goals and assists in the league this season.

South Africa are through to the semi final stage of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, defeating Cape Verde in a heavily contested quarter final match. The game ended in a goalless draw, with both Ronwen Williams and Cape Verde goalkeeper, Vozinha making crucial saves on both sides of the field to keep their teams in the game. Ronwen came out on top however, saving four penalties from Bebé, Willy Semedo, Óscar Duarte and Patrick Andrade to lead South Africa to the tournament’s last four where they will face Nigeria.


Nine-man Ivory Coast defeats Mali to reach AFCON semi final.

Host country, Ivory Coast are coasting to the semi finals stage after only qualifying to the last 16 through the biggest losers. They stunned Mali in a dramatic 2-1 win to secure their place in the last four remaining spots of the tournament, pulling an astronomic comeback. Mali looked to be through until Simon Adingra levelled the score in the last minute of the game and forcing an extra time. Oumar Diakité however took over in the extra time, giving the host country a 2-1 lead in the last minute of the extra time.


2023 African Cup of Nations makes history among global football tournaments.

The 2023 African Cup of Nations have been one of the most thrilling global football tournaments to be witnessed in a while. With crazy goals, good defense and all round flairs, AFCON is taking it’s deserved center stage as more and more global audience continue to be alert to the potentials of the competition. The ongoing competition has now produced 108 total goals, making history as the tournament with the most goals across global football.


Retired Eden Hazard makes wild claim concerning Cristiano Ronaldo.

Chelsea legend, Eden Hazard had to retire from football this summer after a consistent run with injuries. Despite his move to Real Madrid bringing huge promises, the Belgian failed to live up to these expectations, retiring on the basis of his body failing him. In a new interview, Hazard stated that only Messi and Neymar were technically gifted better players than he was and while he agreed on Cristiano Ronaldo’s greatness, he noted that the Real Madrid legend was not a better player than he was. This has caused huge uproar on social media, with fans criticizing Hazard for the statement.
