The President has apologized to Nigerians for the abdication of their role.

Yakubu Maikyau, the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has apologized to Nigerians for shirking their responsibility. He pointed out that members of the bar are more well-known for the amount of fees they demand from their clients than for carrying out their primary duty, which is to provide advice for the benefit of the nation. No other group of professionals outside lawyers are called to this privileged position, according to Mr. Maikyau, making this apology imperative.

Goal 16 of the sustainable development agenda aims to make people’s lives better by reducing violence, enhancing access to justice, and fostering inclusive, effective institutions. These institutions must be strong, efficient, transparent, and responsible in order for governments to provide services to their population and for sustainable development. By virtue of their training, attorneys are expected to position themselves to ask the correct questions, investigate the system, and hold accountable those charged with ensuring Nigerians’ security when they cast their votes for a president on February 25.

Youth and women should also participate in decision-making.

This is intended to assist Nigerians in selecting the best candidate. The NBA is hosting a one-day conversation on justice, economy, and security that aims to include presidential contenders. This is being done in the hopes that whoever wins the election will have a foundation to continue engaging with and being accountable to the Nigerian people. According to the NBA president, attorneys need to focus on more than just their client fees. President Muhammadu Buhari highlighted that the administration is continuous and that no one government is capable of resolving all of the nation’s issues in his capacity as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha. The United Nations deputy secretary general urges the incoming government to permit the participation of youth and women in decision-making.

A lawsuit filed by HDP Ambrose Owuru, a former presidential candidate for the Hope Democratic Party, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election has been denied by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja. President Buhari’s removal petition was rejected by the court on three main grounds, namely that it was a blatant misuse of the legal system, it was past the statute of limitations, and it was an insult to the supremacy of the Nigerian Supreme Court.

NASENI is set to partner with the Borno State Government.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff, Mr. Owuru, requested that the court proclaim the presidency vacant and swear him in as the legitimate victor of the election. Justice Ekwo concluded that the entire lawsuit was unfounded, frivolous, and vexatious. According to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), it plans to work with the government of Borno State to accelerate its strategy to reduce poverty and secure the complete restoration of socioeconomic activity in insurgency-affected areas.

This was said by the agency’s chief executive, Professor Sani Mohammad Haruna, at the Maiduguri program’s launch for youth empowerment and skill acquisition training. The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure’s chief executive is in Borno for the second time this year. The agency convened on January 13, 2023, to meet with Babagana Zulum, the state governor, to inform him of their plans to restructure the state with technical assistance.

Future plans to establish a mobile science technical school.

A training and empowerment initiative for roughly 100 young people in the state is now being launched. The training would emphasize current vulcanizing techniques and capacity building for using other contemporary equipment. In an effort to slow global warming, the agency would also give 500 units of effective smoke-free stoves to IDPs. The state administration applauds NASENI for their action. In order to construct a mobile science technical school in the state’s afflicted communities, NASENI is also working with the state administration.
