Nigeria's north is no stranger to periodic, soil eroding sand storms in the region.

SaharaTV gives us a report on sand storm in Adamawa State.

A sand storm is a meteorological phenomenon in which strong winds pick up loose sand and dust from the ground and carry it through the air. These storms can occur anywhere in the world where there is sandy or dusty terrain, but they are most common in arid or semi-arid regions, such as the Sahara Desert. Sand storms can vary greatly in intensity, from moderate storms that only reduce visibility to severe storms that can cause widespread damage and even loss of life. The largest and most intense storms are typically caused by strong cold front systems that move across deserts, but they can also be triggered by other meteorological conditions, such as thunderstorms, hurricanes, and even volcanic eruptions.
