Victor Boniface wins the Bundesliga rookie of the season award.

Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface has won the 2023/2024 Bundesliga rookie of the season award, beating Borussia Dortmund’s Ian Maatsen, Xavi Simons and Maximillian Beier to the award. The Nigerian forward has had an instant impact since his summer move to the German club, with 14 goals and 9 assists in 22 league games. He also won the rookie of the month award four times before his unfortunate injury which saw him miss the just concluded 2023 AFCON tournament. All thanks to his consistent form, Boniface was also included in the Bundesliga team of the season. With the league already secured and a Europa League final qualification in the pocket, Boniface will no doubt be in contention for African player of the year award.

Jürgen Klopp’s assistant manager at Liverpool, Pep Lijnders is set to take on his first role as head coach next season as he has been appointed as the new manager of Austrian giant, RB Leipzig.
