Bayern Munich expects him to leave and will not offer him a new contract. With this signing, Florentino Pérez will be close to completing the restructure of the team with young players now at the helm of the squad.

In 2-1 win against Mainz on Friday evening, Leverkusen not only broke this long-standing record but also increased their lead over Bayern Munich to 11 points in the Bundesliga table. Granit Xhaka scored his first league goal for the club with a stunning shot from outside the box in the third minute but Dominik Khor equalized with a beautiful header four minutes later.
