Amidst the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has asked the federal government to sever ties with Israel. Prof. Abdullahi Danladi, chairman of IMN Resource Forum, briefed reporters on Saturday in Abuja, expressed his disapproval of the ongoing escalation of the conflict and the “oppression on Palestinian territories.” Danladi, in his speech, said, “The essence of our gathering is to once again address you and the good people of Nigeria and beyond on the continued escalation of atrocities being committed on the people of Palestine by the illegal Zionist State of Israel.”
He went on to note that their Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Yaqoub El-Zakzaky (H), has been an outspoken advocate for standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and other vulnerable and oppressed people groups around the world. A new era in human history began with the recent happenings in the Middle East, most notably in the occupied territory of Palestine. For almost 75 years, he said, the hypocritical United States and her vile allies have stood by as Zionists have murdered and forcibly driven away Palestinians from their homes.

Unfortunately, thousands of people’s lives have been lost in these tragic events so far, which are mostly innocent children and women. Hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and worship centers have also been destroyed due to the actions of Israel. Where are those who claim to champion human rights and advocate for democratic and human values? America’s actions are deeply troubling, as it sends warships to aid and support Israel in its ongoing conflict, disregarding the loss of human lives and the deposition of freedom, he said.
It is abundantly clear that the illegal state of Israel has earned the dubious distinction of being the most despised and cursed nation on earth today. This is evidenced by the broad support shown by the people of different backgrounds globally to the oppressed Palestinian people, which includes some right-thinking Jews. He continued that it is a widely known fact that Israel has repeatedly breached UN charter and resolutions regarding this unlawful occupation by expanding and encroaching into the very paltry territory of the Palestine.

As a result, Hamas’s resistance that we have all witnessed is consistent with fundamental principles to self-determination, self-defense, and preservation of rights. These courageous individuals have kept fighting for their holy striving. Therefore, we offer our respects and our assurances to keep you in our thoughts, prayers and support. Danladi further remarked that the Islamic Movement, led by Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), has repeatedly shown its unwavering support for the oppressed Palestinians for over three decades.
“We would like to call on those who are ignorant of the history and events in the Middle East and tend to see the Zionist as their brothers in faith, to see things beyond the prism of faith, race, colour, etc. The group described Israel’s attacks on Gaza a “crime against humanity” that everyone should speak out against, noting that Israel’s weakness is being revealed by its “desperate” actions. It also criticized the United States for deploying warships to Israel in support of the “ongoing massacre and genocide” in Palestine.

Recent attacks on churches and hospitals are proof enough that this is not a religiously motivated problem but rather a crime against humanity. The illegal Israeli state is showing its desperation in these barbaric attacks, which is a sure indication of its impending collapse and defeat in the near future.
