Citizens should obtain their NIN to assist with implementing the interventions.

President Bola Tinubu has revealed that his administration’s top priority is safeguarding the national treasury from any form of corruption and criminal activities. Tinubu also acknowledged the resistance from smugglers and individuals who thrived under the previous subsidy system in the country in the ongoing battle against corruption. Leaders at the grassroots level have therefore been instructed to motivate citizens to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN) in order to assist with planning and implementing interventions, as well as to ensure their complete participation in various relief programs.

At the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasised the importance of prioritizing resources towards key sectors that will directly benefit the citizens of Nigeria. He assured the Forum of State Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that his administration is committed to safeguarding the nation’s treasury and preventing any misuse of funds. The president’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Nigerians was evident as he emphasized the ongoing efforts of his administration to address their needs. He also urged leaders to obtain their NIN to ensure they are fully included in all relief initiatives.

Unemployed individuals and graduates will benefit from the initiatives.

The president, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, emphasised that their government’s agenda will focus on progress. This includes initiatives such as student loans, a national consumer credit system, and social welfare support for both unemployed individuals and graduates. The aim is to ensure that every Nigerian feels a sense of inclusion and belonging within the country. He expressed his belief that amidst the most powerful storm, there lies a peaceful and harmonious place that will bring prosperity to all Nigerians as they embark on the national journey together.

During a meeting with state party chairmen, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of agriculture in driving Nigeria’s economic development. He informed them that his administration has developed a plan for extensive livestock farming, which will be implemented in the near future. The focus is now on promoting mechanised farming. What was once a crisis will now be seen as a chance for progress. Farmers are currently receiving fertilisers. Economic diversification in agriculture holds the key to the issues. Importing food will not be the future. The president expressed confidence in their ability to transform scarcity into plenty, showcasing their capabilities to the world once more.

Social security initiatives for the vulnerable should be implemented.

According to him, revitalising the economy is of utmost importance and urged party members to take proactive steps in promoting good governance and civic engagement without waiting for an official role. In their battle against corruption, smugglers, and those benefiting from old subsidies, they can expect resistance. Individuals who manipulated records to benefit from the subsidy cut on petroleum products will not go down without a fight. However, they will stand up for their community. The people own the treasury, and it is essential that this responsibility is not taken advantage of.

He emphasised to the state chairmen the importance of setting aside party differences to assist citizens in registering for NIN. It’s not just about PVCs. Many Nigerians lack formal education and are unaware of the significance of NIN in improving their lives. They need to be educated and supported. Without this, social security initiatives for the vulnerable cannot be implemented. Lack of precise data and strong digital systems will result in ineffective decisions. A committee of governors, led by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of the citizens.

Lastly, the president reassured the country that despite challenges from destabilising forces, hope is being instilled in the citizens through hard work and determination. The president was also praised by the Forum of APC State Chairmen for his election victories, with reassurances of ongoing support for his economic initiatives.
