Kevin De Bruyne heralds Manchester City to a comeback win over Newcastle.
After a series of underwhelming performances, Manchester City looks to be back on track. In a heavy clash against Newcastle, Bernardo Silvia’s backheel finish in the 26th minute was met by two quick goals from Newcastle’s striker, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in the 35th and 37th minutes. However, it was Kevin De Bruyne, marking his first game since his hamstring injury on the Premier League opening day, who came off the bench to inspire a comeback. The two-time PL player of the year scored an equalizer with a sensational finish from outside the box, before setting up Oscar Bobb for a late winner at the St. Park Arena. The title defense seems on again, as Manchester City now move to second place, two points behind league leaders, Liverpool.
Manchester United weighing up potential loan bid for Karim Benzema.
With a track record of unsuccessful goals this season, their attackers still trying to find their feet. Marcus Rashford, coming off of his highest scoring season, has been unable to replicate last season’s performances and new signing Rasmus Højlund, despite being the leading goal scorer in the champions League, has not fully adapted to the premier league football. With new reports of Karim Benzema’s unhappy state in Saudi Arabia, Manchester United are considering signing the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner on a six month loan. Without a doubt, this signing automatically becomes a major upgrade over Man. United’s present attackers.
