Songwriting has become more popular in the Nigerian music landscape, all thanks to stars like Davido who have given more visibility and respect to the songwriting profession. 1da Banton, most popular for his “No Wahala” hit song has just revealed that he wrote Davido’s “No Competition” featuring Asake and produced “Na Money” with The Cavemen and Angélique Kidjo. J. Cole officially deletes “7 Minute Drill” off all streaming platforms.
The rap world was hit with a major shock wave after J. Cole dedicated a whole song to replying Kendrick Lamar’s jab off Future and Metro Boomin’s collaborations, “Like That”. The song, “7 Minute Drill” which comes off his surprise album, “Might Delete Later” was most popular for regarding Kendrick’s second album as boring. Cole, during his Dreamville Festival, however apologized, claiming that the move affected his spiritual being. Despite receiving so much backlash online, J. Young Jonn releases colourful video for hit song, “Big Big Things”.
Nigerian producer-turned musician, Young Jonn has been one of Afrobeats’ biggest hit makers over the last year. His hit song, “Big Big Things” featuring Seyi Vibez and Kizz Daniel has peaked in the top five of the Apple Music NG and he has now teamed up with the acclaimed director, TG Omori for a colourful video of the song. The video features an appearance from one of Nollywood’s most famous actors, Pa James. The video has been trending at number six on in the music category on YouTube since its release.
