The Nigerian rap industry has witnessed tremendous success due to new generation rappers like ODUMODUBLVCK and Blaqbonez at the forefront of the genre. The duo have released multiple songs together, including the smash hit, “Tesla Boys” off Odumodublvck’s debut album, “Eziokwu” and the duo are now set to release another collaboration, “Technician”. Tekno debunks news of paid royalty from Kizz Daniel for hit song, “Buga”.

Afrobeats’ stars, Tekno and Kizz Daniel teamed up for one of Nigeria’s biggest songs of 2022. The hit song, “Buga” was the most streamed Afrobeats song in Nigeria, amassing over 82 million streams on Spotify. In a new statement going round on X, it was alleged that Kizz Daniel paid Tekno over a billion naira as royalties for the single and the “Pana” singer has come out to debunk this claim. On this alleged statement, Tekno replied with “him money no reach”. This has caused a major uproar among fans who believe that both artists have fallen out.

Shallipopi’s new album grosses over 1.5 million first day streams on Spotify NG.

Benin-born Nigerian music star, Shallipopi released his sophomore album, “Shakespopi” on Friday. Garnering over 1.5 million streams on its first day of release on Spotify Nigeria, it becomes the sixth biggest first day streamed project on Spotify Nigeria history. Since this release, the album has received a plethora of reactions from fans and critics, who have either shown blatant dissatisfaction or great interest in the album. Despite these mixed reactions, all the songs on the album have charted in the top 20 of both the Spotify and Apple Music Nigeria charts.
