TikTok and Universal Music Group reach new distribution agreement.

After months of back and forth, Universal Music Group and TikTok have finally reached an agreement on their distribution deal. The two parties could not agree over the license agreement and royalty payment, causing the songs of Bad Bunny, Drake, Taylor Swift, Rema and other artists signed to the label to be taken off the platform. With this new deal however, the companies have vowed to improve remunerations for UMG’s artists and songwriters, industry-leading protections with respect to generative AI, as well as new promotional and engagement strategies for their songs. With the new deal, TikTok’s growing E-Commerce abilities will also be facilitated into improving the monetization opportunities.

Zendaya open to starring in “Dune: Messiah” and “Spider-Man 4”.

Hollywood star, Zendaya has revealed that she would definitely be open to starring in MCU’s “Dune: Messiah” and “Spider-Man 4”. Both franchises, which the Emmy award winner starred in, have recorded huge successes in the local and global box offices and there have been rumours about both franchises being renewed. Asked if she would be down, Zendaya disclosed that she would love a reprise of her character in both movies but is waiting until Marvel dials her number.

Kendrick Lamar replies to Drake in new diss record, “Euphoria”.

The hip hop beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar continues to intensify. Two weeks after Drake’s “Push Ups”, Kendrick Lamar has released a new diss track, fuelling the unflagging feud between them. In this 6-minutes long record, “Euphoria”, Kendrick accuses Drake of being a manipulator and bad parent. He also accuses Drake of being a cultural appropriator, saying, “How many more black features ‘til you finally feel that you’re black enough?” The song is presently number 2 on the global Spotify chart with over 9 million streams on its first full day.

Netflix set to produce live-action series of popular animation, “Scooby-Doo”.

According to reports, a new live-action series for legendary animation, Scooby-Doo, is in the works at Netflix. Sources have indicated that the series is still in its early stages and no potential cast has been teased. However, it is unlikely, the reunion of the cast for the 2002 live-action; Matthew Lillard, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar and Linda Cardellini. Greg Berlanti, Leigh London and Sarah Schechter will executively produce the upcoming live-action.

Burna Boy announces that his Stadium concert in the Netherlands has been cancelled.

Afro-fusion star, Burna Boy is hitting new heights in his global trajectory, headlining festivals and selling out stadiums. However, his planned Stadium concert in the Netherlands has just been cancelled due to issues with the event organizers. The music star took to his Instagram story to make this announcement, informing fans that the concert which was scheduled for June 9th, 2024 would no longer be held, as the event planners failed to fulfill their contractual obligations and promised an immediate refund for all ticket buyers.
