PL clubs vote against ban of loaning players among clubs with same owners.

The motion designed to temporarily stop premier league clubs from making loan deals with clubs that they share the same ownership with in the January transfer window has been voted against in a census that saw seven clubs opt against the proposal. In context, Manchester City, which is owned by Sheikh Mansour can be cleared to sign players from Melbourne FC because they share same owners. Whilst votes from fourteen clubs were needed to pass this motion, only thirteen clubs voted for the motion to be passed. With Newcastle that shares same ownership with Al Hilal, now linked with former Wolves midfielder, Rúben Neves who now plays for the Saudi Arabian side, they will now be able to carry on with the deal to replace Sandro Tonali, who was banned for illegal gambling.

Shallipopi explains the copyright issue faced with his hit song, “ObaPluto”.

Emerging artiste, Shallipopi was slammed with a N200 million suit over illegally sampling Pa Monday Igbinidu’s 1996 classic, “Ovonramwen” in his hit single, “ObaPluto”. In an interview with the Zero Condition Podcast, Shallipopi revealed that while he had no idea that Pa Igbinidu was still alive, using the classic song was merely a case of him trying to propagate the Benin culture. On settling the lawsuit, he explained that Pa Igbinidu was featured in the video to help him get his royalties.

Rema’s “Calm Down” ranks at number 6 on the hot 100 end of the year list.

The remix of “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez and Rema has been one of the biggest global songs this year. Hitting the top three on the Billboard top 100 songs, the joint became the first Nigerian record to hit this milestone, breaking the record set by Wizkid and Tems’ “Essence”. The three times RIAA platinum record has been ranked at number six in the Hot 100 End of the Year 2023 chart and the number one collaboration on the chart.

Gavi set to be out for seven month after sustaining ACL meniscus injury.

Barcelona midfielder, Gavi saw his season come to an abrupt halt after suffering a tear in his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Spain’s Euro 2024 qualifiers clash against Georgia on Sunday. Upon completion of further tests, Barcelona revealed in its official statement that Gavi had suffered a complete tear of his ACL and will undergo surgery later in the week. The youngster is set to be out for at least seven months, he will now miss the remainder of the season, as well as the upcoming Euros 2024 and Olympic Games.
