Xabi Alonso has led Bayer Leverkusen to an impressive first Bundesliga title in the club’s history. The club secured the title with an astounding 5-0 win, with an hat trick from Wirtz and goals from Victor Boniface and Granit Xhaka, ending Bayern Munich’s 11 year title-winning streak. Leverkusen has clinched the league with an unbeaten run, winning 25, drawing 4 and scoring 74 goals in 29 league games. This marks a remarkable transformation since appointing Xabi Alonso in 2022, when the team was in the relegation zone. Presently on a 43-game unbeaten run, the club will be looking to also win the Europa League and DFB-Pokal.


Arsenal and Liverpool lose as Man City edges close to a PL 4-peat.

Manchester City has officially retained the first position on the PL table after Arsenal and Liverpool both failed to secure a win on Sunday evening. After Atalanta’s surprise win at Anfield, Crystal Palace again stunned Klopp’s men with an early goal from Eberechi Eze to reduce their title hopes. Arsenal also fell short to Aston Villa with two late goals from Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey. Arsenal and Liverpool rain second and third respectively with 71 points each, 2 points below Manchester City with only six league games left to play.

Newcastle striker, Alexander Isak has been one of the Premier League’s most informed strikers. With 17 league goals this season, the Swedish forward sits third in the PL goal scoring charts, three goals behind Erling Haaland. Due to his terrific form, he has attracted attention from top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. However, Newcastle United’s coach, Eddie Howe has revealed that the club is not interested in cashing in on the striker next season. Howe stated that the club is in the process of building a viable team and would be keeping its best players.


Rúben Amorim to be promised extended time to implement his style at Liverpool.

With Jurgen Klopp’s imminent departure at the end of the season, Liverpool is assessing a list of managers to replace the German and Sporting Lisbon’s Rúben Amorim is the leading candidate to take over as the club’s next manager. Despite Amorim’s denial of ongoing talks, media reports are indicating that he is most likely to be Liverpool’s new coach and the Merseyside club is prepared to give him time to properly implement his style of play.


Efe Ajagba defeats Guido Vianello to retain WBC Silver Heavyweight Championship.

Nigerian Bizet, Efe Ajagba was phenomenal on Saturday night, defeating Guido Vianello by split decision to retain his WBC Silver Heavyweight Championship belt. With this win, he extends his streak to a 5-game winning record, bringing his total to 20 wins (14 knockouts) and one defeat. Despite a slow start, Ajagba, who won the 2015 African Games gold medal and Bronze in the 2014 Commonwealth games, looked to control the middle of the bout, scoring 96-94 (twice) to win the match.
