England releases its provisional squad for the 2024 Euros tournament.
Gareth Southgate has just released a 33-man provisional squad to represent England in the upcoming Euros 2024 tournament which will be held in Germany. The shortlist included some of the biggest emerging talents like Kobbie Mainoo, Curtis Jones, Adam Wharton, Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze and Jarell Quansah have all made the list. Marcus Rashford, after a terrible 2023/2024 season has been left out of the squad. Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, Kalvin Philips, Jordan Henderson, Jadon Sancho and Levi Colwill have all been left out of the squad. However, the squad is expected to be cut down to 26 and submitted by June 7.

Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea part ways with immediate effect.
Argentine manager, Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea after one season in charge. Chelsea started the season on a slow pace but saw an impressive improvement in performances in the second half of the season, clinching a Europa Conference league spot. Sources note that this decision was reached by mutual consent between both parties following the club’s end-of-season review on Monday. Many Chelsea fans have expressed their confusion over this decision, noting that the team was already finding its chemistry under Pochettino. The London club has shortlisted Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, Stuttgart’s coach, Sebastian Hoeness and Girona’s Míchel to take over as the new manager.

NBA releases its 2023/2024 All Defensive teams of the year.
The 2023/24 NBA regular season witnessed some of the best defensive performances in recent times. This year, the NBA made little changes in its award structure (65 games minimum) and the positional requirements were also excluded. For the All-Defence first team, we have the defensive player of the year, Rudy Gobert, Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo, the New Orleans Pelicans’ Herb Jones, LA Lakers’ Anthony Davis and rookie of the year winner, Victor Wembanyama. The second team selection includes the Chicago Bulls’ point guard, Alex Caruso, Jalen Suggs from Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics’ Derrick White, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Jaden McDaniels and Jrue Holiday from Boston Celtics.

Toni Kroos has announced his imminent retirement from football.
German midfielder, Toni Kroos is putting a cap on his impressive career. He has disclosed that he will retire from football after the Euro 2024 tournament. He first made this announcement on his podcast before releasing an emotional letter on Social Media. Perhaps one of the best and most decorated midfielders of all time, Kroos has won over 32 trophies with the club and country, including 5 champions league titles, FIFA World Cup, 4 La Liga titles and 3 Bundesliga titles. He will have a chance to add to his collection as Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions league final next week.
Memphis Depay is set to leave Atletico Madrid as a free agent.
Dutch forward, Memphis Depay will be leaving Atletico Madrid as a free agent as a part of the club’s clear out plan in the summer. Depay, who has spent only 18 months with the La Liga giant was originally supposed to stay until 2025 but the club has rescinded their automatic extension offer for his 18 month contract. Despite showing promising cameos, Depay’s Atletico Madrid’s career has been plagued by multiple injuries. He will be hoping to impress in the 2024 Euros tournament and attract offers from European clubs.
