Legendary manager, Jose Mourinho is the latest to comment about the decline of pure football in recent times. The acclaimed El Classico, filled with intense rivalry and passion for the La Liga throne has been the tapestry of pure footballing over the years. However, with arch rivals, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s departures, the Classico has become quite lacking in quality. Mourinho, who coached Real Madrid for three years, has commented on the quality of that era, stating that the world stopped for the Real Madrid-Barcelona games. Without a doubt, the game of football peaked in this era.

Chet Holmgren reveals his ideal candidates to compete in the Dunk contest.
Oklahoma City Thunders’ second pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Chet Holmgren has taking the league by storm, after a season long injury last year. Ahead of the 2024 NBA All Star Weekend games, the OKC power forward/centre has just revealed his idea for a perfect dunk contest. According to him, only players with the four highest vertical in the league should be considered to participate in the popular contest. This, he believes will offer a more level playing ground for the contestants.

Arsenal forward, Bukayo Saka looks to have fought back and is now on top of his form again, scoring and creating goals and helping Arsenal contend for the Premier League. In the last six Premier League games, Saka has scored six goals, including a brace in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Burnley, taking his tally to 15 goals and 13 assists across all competitions this season. Arsenal are also two points off league leaders and will be looking to secure a crucial win as they face Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones join list of injured Liverpool players.
Liverpool has been riddled with a number of injuries this season and although being the current league leaders, there are great doubts as to whether they would be able to maintain the top spot. After Szoboszlai, Matip, Bajcetic and Thiago Alcântara, Alisson and Trent Alexander-Trent joined the injury list, sustaining a Hamstring and aggravated knee injury respectively. Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones have now joined the injury list in 4-1 win over Brentford this afternoon.

Whilst the conversations about the GOAT footballer have steered between Cristiano Ronaldo/Lionel Messi and Pele/Maradona arguments, little talks have been made for French midfield maestro, Zinedine Zidane. The Real Madrid Legend in fact changed the game, etching his name in history in Juventus and Real Madrid, winning a Ballon d’Or award, helping France win the World Cup and being winners of the FIFA World Player of the year three times (1998, 2000,2003). Chelsea legend, Eden Hazard has however declared Zidane as one of the greatest players of all times. Regardless, there are valid arguments that puts the Frenchman up there in the conversation as one of the greatest of his generation.
