Coco Gauff fights back to secure Australian Open semi finals.

19 years old Tennis champion, Coco Gauff has just secured her place in the semi finals of the 2024 Australian Open, the first of her career. In a surprising comeback, Gauff defeated Magdalena Fręch 6-1, 6-2 within 63 minutes for her eleventh consecutive Grand Slam wins. Now 9 wins and zero losses this season, she will now face the number two seed, Aryna Sabalenka in the upcoming semi final later in January 4 and will be looking to clinch her first Australian Open.


Manchester City midfielder, Kalvin Phillips signs for West Ham on loan.

English Midfielder, Kalvin Phillips was unable to hit the mark after signing for Manchester City in 2022. The midfielder since registered his intention to leave the club for more playing time and despite a good number of bids coming from European clubs across Italy and Germany, Phillips has finally signed for London side, West Ham in a loan deal that will see him at the club until June, with an option to buy. This offers Phillips more playing minutes ahead of the 2024 Euro tournament.


Ghana eliminated from AFCON 2023 after dramatic Mozambique comeback.

The Black Stars were on the verge of a crucial round 16 qualification after Jordan Ayew converted two penalties to secure a comfortable 2-0 lead against Mozambique. However, their walls came crashing down in the last minutes of the game, after Geny Catamo slotted home a 91st minute penalty on an arm ball off Jordan Ayew. Three minutes later, Reinildo Mandava headed home an equalizer after an error from Ghanaian goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, leading to Ghana’s crashing out of the AFCON 2023 tournament with just two points.


Equatorial Guinea coast to last 16 after big Ivory Coast win.

AFCON 2023 host country, Ivory Coast are on the verge of an embarrassing early elimination and disappointing tournament after heavy 4-0 defeat against Equatorial Guinea, their heaviest home defeat in history. A brace from Emilio Nsue, a terrific free kick goal from Pablo Ganet and a Jannick Buyla goal in the 88th minute were enough to secure a sensational Group A finish for Equatorial Guinea who lead the group with seven points and more goals than Nigeria.

Egypt crept into the AFCON 2023 round of 16 tournament, securing a crucial draw against Group B leaders, Cape Verde after Ghana lost a comfortable 2 goal lead against Mozambique. Despite going behind after a beautiful finish from Gilson Tavares just before the first half break, a Salah-less Egypt dominated the game, creating big goal scoring chances. Substitute, Trezeguet scored a important equalizer minutes into the second half. Mostafa Mohamed’s lob seemed to have secured a comeback win for Egypt in the 91st minute but Bryan Teixeira scored a 99th minute goal to secure a dramatic draw for Cape Verde.
