Nicolas Anelka becomes new CEO of Turkish club, Ümraniyespor.
Former Arsenal and Chelsea’s legend, Nicolas Anelka has just joined Turkish side, Ümraniyespor, filling the role as the club’s new CEO. Since retiring from professional football, the 44 year old has tried out a number of sporting roles including managerial and administrative across France, Netherlands, India, China and Algeria his last role as manager in Franchise Lower division side, Hyeres lasted just three months after which he took a three years break. With this new role, Anelka will be looking to propel major changes in a team that is currently regrouping after a relegation.

Jürgen Klopp announces departure from Liverpool at the end of the season.
Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp has just made a bombshell announcement about his future with the PL giant. In a new press conference, Klopp revealed that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season, revealing that he was losing energy already. He arrived at the club in 2025 and won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cuo and Carabao Cup with the club. Liverpool have reportedly shortlisted Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Di Zerbi to take over the managerial role.

Sinner ends Novak Djokovic’s 33-game unbeaten run to reach Aussie Open final.
World number 4, Jannik Sinner has completed one of the biggest upset of the 2024 Australian Open tournament, eliminating world number one, Novak Djokovic in the Semi finals. The Italian dominated the 24 time champion in a 6-1, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3 fierce game. With this win, Sinner ends Djokovic’s 33 games win streak, his first loss since 2018 defeat to South Korea’s Chung Hyeon in straight sets. Sinner will now face World number 3, Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open finals.

NBA TNT reveals starters for 2024 East and West All Stars game.
Ahead of the coveted NBA All Stars week, the East versus west format is set to be re-enacted and the starters for each conference have just been revealed. With the most votes, Giannis Antetokounmpo will captain the Eastern conference and will be joined by Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Haliburton. In the Western conference, Lebron James will make his record 20th straight All Star appearance as the captain and will be joined by Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kevin Durant.

Genk versus Anderlecht game set to be replayed after VAR error.
The constant errors from VAR continues to be a major problem for global football, with fans and critic continue to clamor for measures for curbing these errors. A footballing body have just ruled for the Genk versus Anderlecht clash which was played on December 23rd, 2023 to be replayed as a result of a VAR error which led to Anderlecht’s crucial 2-1 win. Genk’s Yira Sor follow up goal after a missed penalty from Bryan Heynen was ruled out because Sor was in the box 18 when the penalty was played. New reviews show that Anderlecht players were also in the box as at the period. Although the Belgian refereeing body ruled against a rematch, Genk’s appeal to the Footballing body was successful.
