Harnessing the power of technology & safeguarding intellectual property rights.

Africa Creative Market (ACM) is usually held as an accelerator yearly for the growth and development of the creative economy. The programme for this year is proposed to be held at 21st Century Technologies and Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos, respectively, from November 2-7. This year, focus is placed on harnessing the power of technology and safeguarding intellectual property rights. This event was initiated to serve as a global stage where creative entrepreneurs across Africa can showcase their talents.

While showcasing their creativity, the attention of a discerning and diverse audience will be captured, bringing together relevant players from the international and African creative sector. This event also provides a platform for innovation and collaboration. In addition, the 2023 ACM is in collaboration with Paramount Africa, 21st Century Technologies, The HOW Foundation, RivExcel, TRAIL, ALTA Global Media, WIFT Africa, WIFT Senegal, The Luxury Network, Eden Venture Group, Glover Memorial, and U.S Consulate Lagos.

According to the organizers of ACM, this collaboration is a testament to the growing global influence of the event and commitment to drive sustainable economic growth in the creative industry. As a result, the gathering is to celebrate the diversity and richness of African creativity.

More so, the event offers a gateway to fulfilling and prosperous ventures for both international and local investors. The ACM has its focus on intellectual property and technology, and is, as a result, designed to ensure a revolutionizing of the creative sector. By doing so, a long-lasting impact that goes beyond the programme itself will be created. Founder of ACM, Inya Lawal, while speaking on what to expect at the programme, said that the mission of the ACM is to ensure empowerment.

This year, the platform offers opportunities and support for creatives.

Empowerment of creatives is done to help them grow through provision of a blueprint for establishment of commercially sustainable and viable business models. The aim of the event is to empower and provide opportunities for creatives across Africa to improve their businesses. To make this happen, the 2023 ACM platform would offer opportunities and support for creatives on the continent through training programmes, access to trade finance, and investment opportunities. The event will also focus on other activities.

Other activities at the event include Film/TV, Fashion, Music, and Dance. Others include Advertising, Cultural Education, VR/AR, Games, Edutainment, and Photography. The Country Manager for Paramount Africa in Nigeria, Bada Akintunde-Johnson, in a statement, said that the ACM is committed to empowering the ecosystem in Africa to ensure sustainability, profitability, and global recognition. The country manager added that ACM is focused on creating success to replicable structures, models, and the international market.

Akintunde-Johnson further stressed the impact of MTV making the Video to train the first set of music video directors in the early 2000s. This act served as an accelerator in the transformation of the industry. He also reiterated the focus of the ACM on sharing knowledge, facilitating networking opportunities, training more individuals, and teaching trade secrets. The major goal of ACM is to let the world see witness amazing talents like Buju, Chimamanda, Fireboy, Genevieve, and others.
