Russell Westbrook picks up new $4 million LA Clippers contract.

Star guard, Russell Westbrook is set to stay with the LA Clippers next season after picking up his $4 million player option to remain with the franchise. The 9-time NBA All Star joined the Clippers on a 2 year, $7.8 million contract in 2023 and averaged 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Although his career has gone down a slow trajectory over the last few seasons, the 1-time MVP can still offer great help in defence and as a backup point guard.

Switzerland eliminates Italy in the Euros’ last-16 to reach the quarter final.

The defending champions, Italy were stunned on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland to advance to the Euro 2024 quarter final. Remo Freuler opened the scoring in the 37th minute and Ruben Vargas sealed the win with a beautiful strike one minute into the second half. All through the game, Italy struggled both offensively and defensively. Switzerland has now qualified for 2 consecutive Euros quarter finals, defeating France and Italy. This also marks the third consecutive time when the Euros winner would be eliminated in the last-16 (Portugal, Spain and Italy). Switzerland will face the winner of the England-Slovakia clash in the quarter final.


Dominant Argentina defeats Peru to maintain their winning streak.

This Copa América’s tournament has seen Argentina in incredible form all through. Despite benching Lionel Messi, they were able to repel the threats of Peru, beating them 2-0 to clinch the 1st spot in Group A. After a goalless first half, Lautaro Martínez stepped up once again, scoring a brace in the 47th and 86fh minutes to give Argentina three wins out of three in the group stage. Canada remains the group’s runner-up, with a total of 4 points accrued.

João Paulinho confirms he only wants to join Bayern this summer transfer.

Portuguese midfielder, João Paulinho was so close to joining Bayern Munich last season but the deal collapsed, causing him to sign a new contract with Fulham. One year later, the midfielder has confirmed that he only wants to join the Bundesliga giants this summer. Currently with Portugal’s squad in the Euros tournament, Paulinho confirmed his desire to join Bayern Munich during an interview. He said, “I can say that both clubs, Fulham and Bayern know where I want to be in a month’s time.” Many PL clubs like Man. United and City have also registered interests over the week but Paulinho is only focused on Bayern Munich.


Barcelona bids farewell to João Felix after completing his loan spell.

Atletico Madrid’s outcast, João Felix signed a season-long Loan deal with Barcelona last summer after a 6-month loan spell at Chelsea. He immediately etched his place as one of the club’s most important players. He scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists in 44 games for the club. Although Barcelona’s president had earlier disclosed that plans to retain the player was ongoing, Barcelona has just announced that Felix will not be keeping the young forward, bidding him a farewell in future endeavours. In Barcelona’s official statement, the club confirmed that “João Felix, will not continue with Barca.” The talented striker will wait until after the Euros to decide his next move.
