Newcastle United appoints Paul Mitchell as its new sporting director.

After losing Dan Ashworth to Manchester United, Newcastle have just appointed Paul Mitchell as its new Sporting Director. Mitchell, notable for his executive positions at Monaco, RB Leipzig, Tottenham and Southampton, has been one of the biggest recruitment specialists. Unlike Ashworth, the 42 year-old will reportedly focus on recruitments but will still be heavily involved in other spheres of the club’s activities, including the women’s team. Mitchell comes at a period when Newcastle just staved off a potential point deduction for breaching the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
