Alfred was visibly emotional after her win and dedicated her triumph to her late father, who passed away 11 years ago. When asked about the dedication, she said, “Most importantly, God, my coach, and lastly, my dad, who believed that I could do it.” Alfred added that her father would have been proud to see her become an Olympian.
