A newly formed political party, Team New Nigeria (TNN), has taken a notable step toward reshaping Nigeria’s political system by officially unveiling its party symbols in Kano State. Alongside this milestone, the party’s leadership inaugurated its State Harmonisation Committee, reinforcing its commitment to national unity and development. The unveiling ceremony showcased the party’s emblem, which consists of a green, white, and red flag with an image of hands clasped together at the center. According to the group officials, this symbol embodies unity, cooperation, and the collective drive towards national progress.
In addition, the event served as an affirmation of the group’s resolve to revive the vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers, who envisioned a nation bound by shared aspirations and mutual respect. TNN’s leadership emphasised that the organisation aims to rekindle the ideals of leaders like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, whose contributions were instrumental in laying the country’s foundation. The group seeks to reignite these principles by fostering inclusivity and national integration.
Commitment to good governance and social justice.
At the core of their mission is the drive to ensure a government that operates on the tenets of freedom, justice, and participatory democracy. Leaders of the group reiterated that the organisation is dedicated to advancing human rights, good governance, and creating policies that will promote the well-being of all Nigerians. They also seek to transform Nigeria into a modern and prosperous country where all citizens have equal opportunities to succeed. TNN aims to bridge the gaps that have hindered progress in various national sectors by advocating for policies prioritising national development, fairness, and social justice.
During the event, TNN’s leadership noted the necessity of participatory democracy in fostering national progress. They pledged to uphold principles that ensure every Nigerian has a voice in governance and decision-making processes. The leadership emphasised that democracy must be practiced openly and inclusively while respecting the people’s collective will. Their objectives include securing legal equality for all citizens, regardless of their ethnic, religious, ideological, or socio-economic backgrounds. They envision a nation where governance is built on merit, fairness, and service to the people rather than personal or sectional interests.
Strengthening the rule of law and the rights of citizens.
One of the major themes of the gathering was the need to reinforce the Rule of Law in Nigeria. Their leaders stressed that TNN will ensure citizens enjoy their rights without unlawful interference. The group is determined to create a system where justice is accessible to all and financial or political constraints do not limit legal redress. Also, the officials expressed concerns over Nigeria’s current state of governance, stating that they will fight against Corruption and injustice. They emphasised that Sustainable Development can only be achieved when there is adherence to laws that protect the rights of individuals and promote national stability.
As part of its expansion efforts, the group inaugurated the State Harmonisation Committee, charging them with the responsibility of mobilising support and strengthening its structure across the country. During the ceremony, officials reminded committee members that their roles were not positions of privilege but a call to service. However, they further urged committee members to lead with integrity, foster unity, and champion the principles of good governance. They emphasised that their success would depend on the collective efforts of dedicated individuals committed to the nation’s progress.
