In a heartfelt gesture, the Nigerian Senate leadership compassionately declared their commitment to support the victims affected by the unprecedented bombing in Tudun Biri village, located in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A generous sum of ₦109 million, which is their December salaries, has been donated as a means to alleviate the suffering endured by these individuals. During a visit to the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, by the Senate’s leadership to express their sympathy over the incident at the government house, Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, disclosed this news.
According to a report, the Nigerian Army took accountability for the unfortunate airstrike in Tudun Biri, resulting in the loss of at least 100 lives. The state government confirmed this incident a few days ago. In representation of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Deputy Senate President conveyed to the governor their purpose of being present within the state, which is to express their condolences regarding the regrettable event that transpired at Tundun Biri, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
Inquiry shall be conducted into the incident to uphold justice.
The accidental bomb attack on Tudun Biri has caused great concern and distress to both the senate leadership and all the senators of the 10th National Assembly. Barau emphasised that the upper chamber of the National Assembly is fully committed to investigating and uncovering the circumstances surrounding this tragic event thoroughly. In a collaborative effort between the Senate and the executive arm, a thorough inquiry shall be conducted into the incident, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to penalise those responsible.
He stated that their presence was to show solidarity and offer condolences on behalf of Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, as well as all other senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They were also there to express sympathy and offer solace for the tragic incident that occurred at Tundun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of the state a few days ago, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to several individuals.
Support and commitment are given to the affected victims.
Everyone is overwhelmed with concern and distress. Their only response amidst this overwhelming situation is to pray for the souls of those who perished, that the Almighty grants them eternal peace. They also pray for the swift recovery of those injured, wishing the Almighty to grant them a speedy healing process. In this challenging phase that the state of Kaduna is currently going through, the people of Tudun Biri and others are united in displaying their support and allegiance towards the Kaduna State Government and its entire population. Their presence serves as a powerful symbol of solidarity, emphasising their unwavering commitment to stand by their fellow citizens.
Responding to the senate’s gesture, the governor showed his gratitude for their support and commitment towards the state. He also pleaded with the senators, requesting them to join forces with him in championing justice. He emphasised the imperative nature of conducting a comprehensive inquiry and ensuring that the individuals accountable for the bombings face appropriate consequences. The governor ascribed the occurrence of the bombings to claims of inadequate alignment between security agencies and the armed forces.
State police should be created to provide accurate intelligence.
Lastly, to prevent future occurrences, the governor entreated the senators for their backing in creating state police, emphasising the invaluable provision of accurate intelligence to security agencies. Also, the Barrau Dikko Teaching Hospital received a visit from a group of government senators who came to see the victims of an unfortunate bombing incident. The visiting senators included Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, Chief Whip, and Senator Abba Morro, Senate Minority Leader, among other distinguished individuals.
