Brazil defeats Paraguay to secure first win in the 2024 Copa América.

After a disappointing opener in the 2024 Copa América, back with an emphatic 4-1 win against Paraguay on Friday evening. A first half brace from Vinicius Jr gave Brazil a perfect start but Paraguay pulled one back through Omar Alderete’s effort just after halftime. Goals from Sávio and Lucas Paquetá were enough to extend Brazil’s lead and eventually win the game. Brazil will face current Group D leaders, Colombia, where they would need to win or draw the game for a chance to qualify for the quarter final.


Hakim Ziyech completes his permanent transfer to Galatasaray.

Moroccan winger, Hakim Ziyech has signed a permanent contract with Turkey giants, Galatasaray. The 31 year-old attacker spent last season on Loan at the Turkish club, scoring 8 goals and assisting 4 in 23 games. However, his season was cut short due to a foot injury and another ankle injury during the AFCON tournament. As agreed upon last season however, Galatasaray has made Ziyech’s move permanent on a free transfer. The former Chelsea player has signed a new 1-year contract with an option for another year based on unspecified terms. He will receive a weekly wage of €54,800.


The Atlanta Hawks trade Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans.

After choosing France’s Zaccharie Risacher as the no. 1 pick in the 2024 draft class, fans were greatly intrigued by the attacking prospect of a Zaccharie-Trae Young-Dejounte Murray backcourt. This will now not actualize, as the Hawks have traded Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans. In exchange, they will receive guard, Dyson Daniels, E.J Liddell, Larry Nance Jr. and first round picks in 2025 and 2027. Dejounte Murray averaged 22.5, 6.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game last season and will be a perfect fit for the Pelicans.


Matthijs de Ligt rumours to Manchester United getting more concrete.

Manchester United is currently in the market to replace Raphaël Varane. A number of defenders have been linked with the club but according to sources, United is considering Matthijs de Ligt as their top transfer target. The Dutch defender has been on Man. United’s radar since his time at Ajax in 2019 and a deal for the 24-year old looks set to be actualized. Despite being under contract with Bayern Munich until 2027, de Ligt would like to leave the Bundesliga giants this summer. A transfer to Manchester United is matched by that of Erik ten Hag, who coached de Ligt at Ajax. United’s ability to add one or two new players to its defense will be heavily reliant on the finances generated from departures.


Omari Hutchinson moves to Ipswich Town on a permanent transfer.

Chelsea’s youngster, Omari Hutchinson’s move to Ipswich United has been confirmed. He joined Ipswich on a season-long loan, contributing 17 goals (11 goals and 6 assists) in 50 games for the club last season. The newly promoted side has agreed to a deal which is worth a club-record £22.5 million transfer fee with Chelsea for the Jamaican midfielder. The deal will not include a buy-back clause but only a sell-on clause. Subject to the completion of his medical testing, the transfer is set to be announced in the coming days.
