Novak Djokovic withdraws from French Open after suffering a knee injury.
Former World no. 1, Novak Djokovic will not get a chance to defend his title after pulling out of the French Open due to a knee injury. The Serbian went through a scan after the slippery Roland Garros’ clay court where he defeated Argentinian, Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round on Monday. He was scheduled to play the seventh seed Norwegian, Casper Ruud in the quarter finals before taking to his Instagram to announce his withdrawal, ending his quest for an all-time record career 25th Grand Slam. He has also lost his spot as World no. 1 and is replaced by Italy’s Jannik Sinner. It remains uncertain if he will be fit enough to compete at the upcoming Wimbledon, where he has won 7 titles.
