Mike Tyson defeated by unanimous decision in highly anticipated exhibition match.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in their highly anticipated bout on Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Fighting before 72,300 fans, Paul dominated the fight, earning scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 from the judges. The victory improves Paul’s professional record to 11-1, including seven knockouts, and makes him the sixth fighter to defeat the 58-year-old Hall of Famer. Tyson, competing in his first professional match in 19 years, showed early aggression in the third round, landing some hard punches. However, Paul quickly responded, rocking Tyson with precise shots and exposing his lack of movement and fatigue. Commentator Roy Jones Jr. noted, “I don’t like Mike’s legs at all.” Despite bursts of energy late in the fight, Tyson struggled to keep up with Paul’s combinations and jabs. After the fight, Tyson reflected, “I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself.”

Olympique Lyonnais handed a provisional Ligue 2 relegation and transfer ban.

French side, Olympique Lyonnais have been provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 by the DNCG, the financial oversight body for French football, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has confirmed. Despite sitting fifth in Ligue 1 and vying for a European spot, Lyon face demotion due to financial concerns, including debts rising from €458 million to €508 million. The club has also been handed a transfer ban and payroll supervision. Owner John Textor, head of Eagle Football, appeared before the DNCG amid scrutiny over the club’s financial health. Lyon’s high wage bill, the second-largest in Ligue 1, and underperformance since 2020/21 have contributed to their struggles. To avoid relegation, Lyon must stabilize their finances, potentially by selling key players like Rayan Cherki. The ruling is temporary, but similar cases, like Bordeaux’s demotion to the fourth tier, underline the severity of the situation.

No talks currently between Real Madrid and Ramos over a possible return.

Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has been linked with a potential return to the club following Eder Militao’s season-ending injury. The 38-year-old Spaniard, currently a free agent after leaving Sevilla in July, reportedly offered himself as an emergency option, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute. Real Madrid faces a defensive crisis with Militão sidelined and David Alaba still recovering from a long-term injury. Despite Ramos’ willingness, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed any active discussions between the player and the club. “No contacts are taking place between Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos,” Romano wrote on X. “Ramos would be open and happy to return, but no talks so far.” As Los Blancos trail Barcelona by six points in La Liga, they will look to regroup after the international break amid calls to strengthen their defensive depth.

Ronaldo’s brace powers Portugal to a thumping 5-1 win over Poland.

Portugal secured their place atop League A Group 1 of the Nations League with a dominant 5-1 victory over Poland, scoring all five goals in a stunning second-half display. Cristiano Ronaldo starred with a brace, including a spectacular bicycle kick, as Portugal ensured a top-two finish and a spot in the quarter-finals. Poland started brightly, with Bartosz Bereszyński and Krzysztof Piątek threatening, while Portugal looked uninspired in the first half, missing chances through Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes. However, Roberto Martínez’s side came alive after the break, beginning with a brilliant 59th-minute opener from Rafael Leão, set up by Nuno Mendes. Ronaldo converted a penalty in the 72nd minute after Jakub Kiwior’s handball, followed by Fernandes’ stunning strike from distance. Pedro Neto added a fourth, and Ronaldo’s bicycle kick sealed the rout before Dominik Marczul scored a late consolation for Poland.

Paul Pogba becomes a free agent after Juventus terminates his contract.

As earlier reported, Juventus has officially announced the mutual termination of Paul Pogba’s contract, effective November 30, 2024. This decision comes after the French midfielder was initially handed a four-year doping suspension in August 2023, later reduced to 18 months. Pogba will be eligible to return to competitive action in March 2025. In their statement, Juventus expressed gratitude and wished Pogba well in his professional future. The 31-year-old rejoined the club from Manchester United in 2022 on an €8 million-per-year contract. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the termination will save Juventus approximately €30 million, including salary and bonuses for the final year of his deal. Currently training in Miami, Pogba is preparing for his comeback and will be allowed to train officially with a club starting in January. Juventus, now under Thiago Motta, continues to rebuild for the future.
