He emphasised how the destruction would directly affect upcoming projects, stating the immediate impact on the buildathon holiday maker programme scheduled for next week. This event, aimed at Secondary School students, was set to take place in the damaged building and 3MTT. He further explained that the harm would affect efforts to expand the digital workforce and open employment prospects for young people. Tijani expressed his deep disappointment, noting that the loss amounts to millions of Naira, significantly setting back progress in supporting and nurturing the region’s technical talent.

3MTT aims to strengthen technical expertise to boost the digital economy.

In addition, the 3MTT project is an essential part of the Renewed Hope plan, which aims to enhance the nation’s pool of technical experts to boost its Digital Economy and position it as a leading exporter of talent. Originally launched with 30,000 participants, which was only one percent of the goal to reach three million, the program has now grown to encompass 270,000 more individuals in its second phase, making up 10 percent of the target.

Also, the Protest will persist until August 10, with the people calling on the government to take action on the country’s economic challenges. Citizens are expressing their frustration through a demonstration in light of the increasing economic challenges they are confronting. The issues they are grappling with include a steep cost of living, rampant hunger, high Unemployment rates, and inadequate access to quality education. The protest that took place nationwide on Thursday resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 17 individuals in various locations, as stated in the report.

Nigerian businesses, banks, shopping and markets shut in fear of protests.

However, the demonstration later turned to violence and resulted in multiple fatalities across several cities, with one individual each killed in Abuja and Kano, two deaths in Jigawa, six casualties from Security forces in Niger, four fatalities in Borno, and three in Kaduna. Initially, the rally began peacefully, but it escalated into chaos in some urban regions, resulting in intense clashes between law enforcement and demonstrators. Nigerian businesses, banks, shopping centres, and select markets remained closed in anticipation of potential protests spiralling out of control. The well-known Computer Village market in Lagos was also closed due to the demonstration.
