Ondo State trains 600 youths on tech skills

PSTI initiative will create job opportunities and empower youth in the state.

Through its youth Empowerment initiative, the Ondo State government has successfully equipped over 600 young individuals with essential Technology skills. The state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced this while presenting the new e-learning platform for the Public Service Training Institute (PSTI) in Ilara-Mokin. The governor announced that his administration is actively recruiting individuals for important positions in health, education, and other sectors. He praised the PSTI management for supporting his administration’s mission to eradicate Poverty in the state by empowering youth and creating job opportunities.

The government understands that improving Economic Growth cannot be achieved independently. By actively engaging with communities and empowering the younger generation, the administration believes it can unleash the economy’s full potential. He praises the PSTI leadership for addressing deficiencies by providing training and skill development for public servants and numerous young individuals in local communities. Also, he praises the institute for leading the way in implementing effective programs to improve the lives of young people in Ondo State. These courageous actions are sure to generate significant economic advantages for the region.

Training opportunities will enhance the human capital of public servants.

Mr. Bayo Philip, the state Head of Service, stressed the importance of offering training opportunities to improve the human capital of public servants and individuals, particularly the younger generation. He noted that the institute had started to attract participants from various states and hinted at plans to build dormitories for student accommodation. He emphasises that investing in training and facilities demonstrates a commitment to nurturing talent and promoting continuous learning among the workforce, ultimately contributing to the overall growth and development of the state.

In his welcoming speech, Dr. Olumide Asere, the Permanent Secretary and Director General of the Institute, announced that the youth empowerment program would target young individuals in all 18 local government areas. The pilot edition of the program was successfully held in Ifedore, the host local government area. He stressed the significance of young people in driving economic growth within society, emphasising the need for them to be empowered to become self-sufficient and creators of employment opportunities rather than mere job hunters.
