In a groundbreaking move to boost Nigeria’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is set to bring the world-renowned technology expo, Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX), to the country in the year 2025. The agreement was signed by Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, who serves as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITDA, and Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, the organizers of GITEX. Inuwa emphasized the importance of the MoU, stating that hosting GITEX in Nigeria will bring the premier tech conference experience to the country.
Inuwa pointed out that the strategic technological project is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at rejuvenating the Economy for long-term growth. He elaborated on how economic success now depends more on participation in global markets and becoming part of the International Trade network. He said President Tinubu has instructed government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to actively promote and assist initiatives that encourage Economic Diversification in alignment with the current administration’s redefined priority areas.
