Switzerland eliminated on penalties as England advances to Euros semifinal.
England’s charge for their first international trophy in over 5 decades remains active, all thanks to Saka’s late equalizer which led to their 5-3 victory on penalties. Again, England was on the brink of elimination and had to battle back late from a goal down. Despite England controlling the game for most parts of the match, they were unable to break through Switzerland’s defence. In the 75th minute, Switzerland again proved how dangerous they were in the competition, as Embolo slotted home a cross from Dan Ndoye. This lead however lasted only 5 minutes as Saka’s stunning effort from outside the box proved a perfect equalizer. Moving to the penalty shootout, Jordan Pickford came up clutch, saving Akanji’s penalty as all 5 of England penalty takers converted their shots, sending England to a second consecutive Euros semifinals.

Netherlands stage important comeback win over Turkey in the quarter finals.
The Euros 2024 quarter final stage was concluded with another thrilling match and in fact, the only quarter final clash in which a winner emerged at full time. Samet Akaydin put Turkey in front after a beautiful first half goal but Ronald Koeman’s men struck 2 second half goals to see off Turkey’s scare. Stefan de Vrij headed home their equalizer before Cody Gakpo forced an own goal from Mert Müldür to give the Dutch team a well deserved 2-1 victory. The Netherlands have now qualified for their first Euros semi final since 2004 where they will face England.
