Updates on Sofyan Amrabat, Fikayo Tomori, De Bruyne, James Rodríguez and Diaby.

Decision made on Sofyan Amrabat’s future with Manchester United.

Manchester United’s team are making significant financial decisions this summer and this includes the future of Sofyan Amrabat. Despite a slow start in Manchester, the Moroccan midfielder impressed towards the season’s end, notably in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. However, Manchester United have informed Fiorentina that they will not exercise the €20 million clause to make his Loan permanent. Reports indicate that club executives Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth are reluctant to approve a deal for that amount, especially after paying a €10 million initial loan fee. Nonetheless, United remain interested in Amrabat and are open to discussing different terms, as Erik ten Hag is a fan of the player. Other clubs are also reportedly interested in Amrabat.

West Ham identifies Fikayo Tomori as their new defensive target.

After signing English centre-back Max Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham are looking to further bolster their defence this summer. They have reportedly identified former Chelsea star, Fikayo Tomori as the main target and are open to bringing him back to the Premier League. Although Tomori struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, he has become a key figure for AC Milan since his transfer to the Serie A giant three years ago. Sources suggest that the Hammers are preparing to make a bid for the defender in the coming days. Strengthening their backline is a priority for West Ham as they aim to improve on last season’s defensive record.

Kevin De Bruyne to Al-Ittihad transfer rumours labelled untrue.

Rumours recently suggested that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne had agreed to personal terms with Al-Ittihad. However, sport Journalist Fabrizio Romano has debunked these claims. Taking to his X account, Romano confirmed that the De Bruyne-Saudi move is untrue, stating, “Saudi sources playing down reports about Kevin de Bruyne reaching an agreement with Al Ittihad — told it’s NOT true.” Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad is focusing on reinforcing their goalkeeper position, with City’s Ederson as their primary target.

James Rodríguez set sights on Europe after São Paulo contract termination.

Following his outstanding performance in the 2024 Copa América, where he was named the tournament’s MVP and finished as runner-up, James Rodríguez has agreed to terminate his contract with São Paulo. The Colombian star, who waived the sums owed to him by the Brazilian club, has attracted the attention of several European teams. James was informed that he was not part of Luis Zubeldia’s plans, prompting his decision to seek a release. Eager to return to European football, James is now free to explore new opportunities across the continent but will most certainly favour a move to Spain.

Moussa Diaby completed €60 million transfer to Saudi side, Al-Ittihad.

Saudi club, Al-Ittihad has reached a verbal agreement with Aston Villa for winger Moussa Diaby in a deal worth €60m including add-ons. Last summer, Diaby considered joining Al Nassr but chose Villa instead in a £50m move, where he struggled for consistent form. Scoring 10 goals in 54 appearances for Villa, the 25 year-old contributed to the club’s first UEFA Champions League qualification since 1983 but will now miss the campaign. Diaby has now agreed to a five-year contract with Al-Ittihad and is awaiting paperwork before signing. He will join fellow Frenchmen Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante at the club.
