Ruud van Nistelrooy set to take over as Leicester City’s new manager.

Leicester City are set to announce Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager within 24 hours, as they look to strengthen their Premier League survival bid. Known for his ability to foster strong player relationships, Van Nistelrooy emerged as the club’s top choice after considering other candidates, including former Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovač and West Bromwich Albion boss, Carlos Corberán. Club owner Aiyawatt Shrivadhannaprabha, known as “Top,” took charge of the selection process, working closely with director of football Jon Rudkin. Van Nistelrooy, who recently served as assistant manager at Manchester United, has been seeking a managerial role after leaving PSV Eindhoven in 2023. He briefly served as United’s interim head coach, achieving notable results, including two victories against Leicester. With his experience and leadership, Leicester hopes Van Nistelrooy can guide them to safety this season.

Napoli is considering cashing in on Kvaratskhelia this summer.

New reports from Italian outlet SportMediaset is indicating that Napoli may consider selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia next summer if the Georgian star does not agree to a new contract. Previously deemed untouchable and valued at over €100 million, the 23-year-old winger could be available as his current deal enters its final two years, making it the club’s last chance to secure a fair market price. Premier League clubs, particularly Manchester United, are reportedly interested, with new manager Ruben Amorim keen on bolstering his attack to fit his vision for Old Trafford. Amorim is said to be an admirer of Kvaratskhelia’s skill set, fueling United’s pursuit. Barcelona, PSG, and other European heavyweights are also monitoring the situation closely. Napoli remain hopeful of extending the winger’s contract but could be forced to cash in if an agreement isn’t reached before the season ends.

Dominant Liverpool defeats Real Madrid to move to the top of the CL table.

Liverpool returned to the top of the Champions League standings with a commanding 2-0 victory over Real Madrid, marking their first win against the Spanish giants in 15 years. Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo provided the goals in a dominant performance at Anfield. Arne Slot’s side controlled much of the game, narrowly missing a first-half breakthrough as Thibaut Courtois denied Darwin Núñez with a superb save. Drama unfolded as both teams missed penalties, with Kylian Mbappé’s effort saved by Caoimhin Kelleher and Mohamed Salah striking the post. Liverpool sealed the win when Gakpo headed Andy Robertson’s cross into the net with 14 minutes remaining. The victory keeps Liverpool’s record perfect with five wins from five matches, while Real Madrid languish in 24th place. Liverpool now turn their attention to Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Anfield.

Coventry City appoints Frank Lamperd as their new head coach.

Former Chelsea and Everton manager, Frank Lampard is poised to return to management with Coventry City, 18 months after departing his interim role at Chelsea. The 46-year-old, who has kept busy with punditry work, is reportedly in advanced talks to take charge of the struggling Championship side, according to The Telegraph. Coventry, just months from reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, dismissed manager Mark Robins on November 7 after a poor start to the season, winning only four of their first 14 league games. Club owner Doug King faced backlash for sacking the popular Robins, who had guided Coventry to the Championship play-off final in 2023, but defended his decision, citing fears of relegation to League One. Lampard, who previously managed Derby County to the 2019 play-off final, could be in the dugout for Coventry’s critical clash against Cardiff City on Saturday.

Trae Young drops season-high 22 dimes as the Hawks stuns the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday, falling 135-124 to the Atlanta Hawks in a surprising upset. Despite building an early 19-point lead, the Eastern Conference leaders were undone by a dominant second-half display from Atlanta, led by Trae Young’s career-high 22 assists—the most in the NBA this season—and 20 points. De’Andre Hunter added 26 points off the bench, while Jalen Johnson contributed 22 as the Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak. Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points for Cleveland, and Evan Mobley posted a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, but the Cavs missed their chance to start 18-1 for the first time. The Hawks, now 8-11, secured their second significant road win after beating the Celtics earlier this month. Young praised the team’s potential, noting their ability to perform at a high level.
