PSG to go to court after losing a legal battle against Mbappé over wage dispute.
Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé has sued Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses, with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) ruling on Friday that PSG must pay the amount per Mbappé’s contract. Although PSG intends to take the dispute to court, they argue the contract was “legally amended” and that Mbappé broke commitments upon joining Real Madrid last summer. The LFP’s National Joint Appeals Commission, which heard the case on October 15, ruled in Mbappé’s favor, with no option for appeal but a possible referral to the French Football Federation’s Executive Committee. PSG claims Mbappé accepted the contract amendments as recently as January 2024, only to later abandon his commitments. PSG seeks to resolve the dispute amicably but is prepared to pursue legal action, emphasizing that Mbappé’s actions harm the club and French football.

Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca criticizes Reece James’ leadership.
Enzo Maresca has issued a challenge to Reece James, urging the Chelsea captain to enhance his leadership qualities following his recent return from injury. James, 24, made his first start since December 2023 in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool after a lengthy absence due to a hamstring injury. Handed the captaincy by Mauricio Pochettino last summer, James has missed much of his leadership role due to ongoing fitness issues. Maresca has advised James to play only once a week to manage his recovery, which James supports. However, Maresca has also called on James to be more active in guiding the team, admitting he expected more leadership from the defender. While James took the feedback constructively, Maresca noted that his personality remains reserved, highlighting the importance of building leaders in the squad. He praised Levi Colwill for showing strong leadership qualities alongside James’ developing role.
🚨🔵 Maresca: “When you don’t have a proper leader, you need to build that. I think we don’t have a proper leader”.

Nottingham Forest sees off Leicester City, all thanks to Chris Woods’ brace.
Chris Wood’s double led Nottingham Forest to a 3-1 victory over Leicester City in Friday’s East Midlands derby, pushing Forest to fifth in the Premier League. Ryan Yates opened the scoring with a rare goal, but Jamie Vardy equalized for Leicester. Forest took control in the second half, with Wood’s two goals sealing a comfortable win. Despite a dominant display, Forest missed chances to extend their lead further—Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen made a remarkable point-blank save to deny Nicolás Domínguez, Callum Hudson-Odoi hit the post, and Yates missed an open goal. The win brings Forest to 16 points from nine matches, positioning them in the top five, though they’ve played one more game than their close competitors. Leicester remains 14th with nine points, struggling defensively as their difficult season continues.
