Reece James suffers delay to his long-anticipated Chelsea return.
Chelsea’s captain, Reece James’ return from a hamstring injury will be delayed as Chelsea’s medical team remains cautious about his recovery. The Chelsea captain, who has struggled with recurring hamstring issues in recent seasons, suffered his latest setback just before the 2024/25 Premier League season. Although he provided a positive update last month by sharing a photo of himself running during training, The Sun reports that club medics are not ready to clear him for a comeback yet. Despite not sustaining any new injuries, his recovery has been slower than expected. James, 24, has missed 82 of Chelsea’s 194 Premier League matches since his debut in 2019, including starting just five games last season due to ongoing hamstring problems.

Fermin López suffers an injury blow and, expected to be out for multiple weeks.
Barcelona’s injury woes continue as midfielder Fermin López (21) has suffered a new muscular issue in his right thigh during Tuesday’s training session. López, who helped Spain win the European Championship in July and earned a gold medal with the Under-23s at the Paris 2024 Olympics, had previously dealt with a left hamstring injury earlier this month. He is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, Barcelona confirmed. López has tallied 11 goals and one assist in 45 appearances for the club. The LaLiga leaders are also missing key players like Dani Olmo, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal, Ronald Araújo, and Andreas Christensen. Under new manager Hansi Flick, Barca have won all five of their LaLiga games, sitting four points clear of Real Madrid. They face Monaco in their Champions League opener on Thursday.

A’ja Wilson, Clark and Cheryl Reeve set to receive unanimous WNBA awards.
Las Vegas Aces’ star, A’ja Wilson’s incredible 2024 WNBA season stems from the frustration of finishing third in the MVP race last year. Despite winning her second MVP in 2022, Wilson was disappointed with not securing the honor again in 2023. Using that as motivation, she led the Las Vegas Aces to their second consecutive championship and earned the 2023 WNBA Finals MVP. Over the offseason, she prepared intensely, resulting in a record-breaking 2024 season. Wilson became the first player to score 1,000 points in a season, averaging 27.0 points per game, the highest in league history. She also set career highs in rebounds, blocks, and steals, and leads in player efficiency rating and win shares. Though the MVP award hasn’t been officially decided, Wilson is the clear favorite. Caitlin Clark and Cheryl Reeve are also set to win unanimous Rookie and Coach of the Year honors, respectively.
ESPN announces that they have unanimously voted for:

Brazilian talent, Endrick became Real Madrid’s youngest-ever scorer in the Champions League during their 3-1 win over Stuttgart on Tuesday. The 18-year-old came off the bench in the 80th minute with Real leading 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
