Dr. Usra Hendra Harahap, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria has emphasised the importance of educational partnerships in enhancing the relationship between the two countries. This statement was made during the celebration of the 5th Speech and Prize Waleematul Tahfeezul Quran, where 33 students from Misbahul ‘Ilm Schools (MIS) in Abuja were recognised. MIS, an Indonesian embassy-backed school, focuses on Quran memorisation to help students develop a stronger bond with Islamic teachings, offering a special chance to deepen their knowledge.
By offering scholarships for students to study in both Nigeria and Indonesia, the bilateral relationship between the two countries can be strengthened. Focusing on the fields of Agriculture and healthcare, as well as implementing exchange programs for students to immerse themselves in each other’s cultures, will further enhance academic and cultural exchange between the two nations. He emphasised the importance of consistent communication in exchanging successful methods, obstacles, and improvements in Education policies and administration, which will enhance the relationship between the two countries.
Educational collaboration can increase learning capacity.
He suggested that Nigeria and Indonesia can strengthen their educational collaboration through these initiatives, leading to better understanding, increased capacity, and improved bilateral relationships. Muhammad Murtala Ibrahim, the Event Chairman, emphasised the importance of promoting various knowledge areas to enhance the capabilities of the MIS. He mentioned that while the school has shown excellence in the fields of science and technology, there are still areas that need improvement. According to him, the chemistry, computer and physics labs are insufficiently equipped, emphasising that simply relying on school fees will not solve the problem.
His suggestion was for the school to investigate different ways of funding, such as creating an endowment with contributions from parents and other generous individuals, specifically for supporting science, information, and Technology education at MIS. He is committed to establishing this endowment as soon as possible. He urges everyone to join in and help ensure the progress of their children. He is deeply thankful to the teachers and parents for their constant support and motivation, which has greatly contributed to the success of their students. Through their love and guidance, you have taught them the significance of faith and helped shape their achievements.
Students were encouraged to continue to strive for excellence.
Graduation is just the beginning of a lifelong journey with the Quran for their students. He urged them to remember the great responsibility they have and continue to seek knowledge, strive for excellence, and uphold the values of the Quran. The event is proof of their hard work and commitment to the sacred words of Allah (SWT) for their Huffaz. They honour their dedication to learning and embodying the principles of the Quran as you continue on this noble journey of knowledge and enlightenment.
Their influence transcends generations, serving as an inspiration not only to their peers but also to those much older.
