President Bola Tinubu has approved providing 3.6 million Nigerian families with a financial boost through the National Construction and Household Support Programme. According to Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, the uplift grant will aid 100,000 families per state while giving them ₦50,000 monthly for three months. The National Construction and Household Support Programme will be implementing the initiative. To enhance agricultural output and improve the Economy through job creation in key sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and construction, President Bola Tinubu has approved the launch of the National Construction and Household Support Programme across all regions of the country.
The programme aims to provide economic assistance to Nigerians in need quickly. Also, the Sokoto-Badagry Highway project has been given top priority in the program, with plans for it to pass through seven states, including Kebbi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, and Sokoto. Various road Infrastructure projects are prioritised, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, currently in progress and the Trans-Saharan Highway connecting Enugu, Abakaliki, Ogoja, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Abuja. Approval has also been given for complete similar funding for the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri Railway, which will run through Nasarawa, Rivers, Plateau, Enugu, Abia, Benue, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno.

Similarly, funding has been approved for the Ibadan-Abuja portion of the Lagos-Kano Standard-Gauge Railway, which will pass through Osun, Kwara, Niger, Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Ogun, Lagos, and Oyo. The Sokoto-Badagry road project has been deemed a top priority due to its significance in connecting states critical to the nation’s agricultural sustainability. The Sokoto-Badagry Highway corridor boasts a network of 216 farming communities, 58 major dams, seven Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZs), 156 local government areas, 39 bustling commercial centres, and more than 1 million hectares of fertile land, ranging across six states.
Furthermore, the National Construction and Household Support Programme encompasses various initiatives. These include allocating ₦10 billion to states and the Federal Capital Territory to purchase buses and implement a CNG uplift programme. The programme also includes provisions for labour unions and Civil Society organisations, and ₦155 billion is set aside for buying and selling assorted food items to be distributed nationwide. Also, President Tinubu addressed state governors at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, emphasising the importance of collaboration in addressing citizens’ needs. He expressed readiness to offer support to alleviate the hardships faced by people in the country.

Stressing the need to increase food production, the President highlighted the importance of the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, which connects states crucial to the nation’s food supply. Badagry serves as a vital route for exporting food products. The states must collaborate in implementing necessary reforms to address the people’s needs. Time is a valuable resource for humanity but is always in short supply. The clock is ticking. Their expertise lies in assisting with the automation of agricultural tasks and providing top-notch seedlings to help improve agricultural processes.
They are ready to offer solar-powered Irrigation systems for year-round Farmer support, and the NEC must now focus on food production. Collaboration and purposeful planning among council members are crucial to meeting the people’s dietary needs. By doing so, they can create employment opportunities during the Manufacturing process. They can also boost Revenue by exporting any surplus. This goal is definitely within their reach when it comes to benefiting the people across the country. He requested a report be submitted within seven days following consultations, outlining the necessary actions to be taken at all levels to meet the targets.
