Finidi George resigns from his role as Super Eagles’ head coach.
Following the Nigerian Football Federation’s decision to appoint a new foreign technical adviser, the Super Eagles’ head coach, Finidi George has resigned from his role. Finidi was announced as the new Super Eagles’ coach earlier this year, signing a 1-year contract with the possibility of further extensions based on performances from the World Cup qualifiers and African Cup of Nations. His reign however started on a bad track, as he failed to win any of Nigeria’s clashes against South Africa, Mali and Benin, putting Nigeria at 5th in Group C of the WC qualifiers. On the main reason for his resignation, Finidi George disclosed that due to the recent changes in the technical crew, it was time for him to step down. The NFF are looking at possible replacements ahead of the next qualifiers match.
